Your missions

Description

Join us in our mission to set the bar for excellence in technical documentation and practice within the industry. We are significantly expanding our documentation team with several positions available across various products and teams, suitable for candidates from graduate to senior staff levels.

As a Technical Author, you will take charge of the documentation efforts of an engineering team, focusing on specific products. Your aim will be to create user-centric documentation aligned with the Diátaxis documentation framework, impacting user experience and contributing to project success. This role transcends traditional technical writing, as you will actively engage in product strategy and design, combining technical expertise with documentation leadership.

These are fully remote roles, welcoming candidates from around the globe.

Responsibilities

  • Create, maintain, and improve software documentation
  • Collaborate with engineering team members to enhance documentation contributions
  • Influence product development with insights as an expert user
  • Engage with user communities to tailor documentation to their needs
  • Foster community engagement and contributions to documentation
  • Standardize content structure, presentation, style, and language across products
  • Work with documentation peers to elevate documentation practices
  • Challenge and advance best practices within a disciplinary team

What We Are Looking For

  • A passion for effective written communication
  • A technical writer with a programmer’s mindset or a programmer with a knack for documentation
  • Experience in community engagement, especially in open-source software
  • An understanding of the needs and challenges within open-source communities
  • Technical curiosity regarding software technology and its challenges
  • Strong documentation skills, insight, and enthusiasm
  • Experience in software development, proficiency with Linux, command line operations, and documentation markup languages
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A BSc/BA degree or equivalent
  • Willingness to travel twice a year for events

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Deep technical domain knowledge
  • Experience in open-source community leadership and management
  • User-experience or visual design knowledge
