The Director - People & Business Partner is closely connected with the strategies and goals of the assigned business unit(s) and provides consultation on how to align the talent strategy to meet those goals. The Director - People & Business Partner primarily works alongside senior leaders and executives and is the subject matter expert for all people-related topics within the assigned business unit(s), consulting on matters around talent management, employee experience, workforce planning, coaching/development, organizational design, etc.

We Innovate to shape the future of CRE, so in this role you will:

  • Act as a consultative partner to senior management within assigned business unit(s).
  • Align and execute Talent Strategies to key business goals.
  • Connect various areas of excellence within the People Team (Total Rewards, L&D, HR center of excellence, etc.) to most holistically and effectively address business needs and opportunities.
  • Proactively consult business leaders on talent-related topics including employee engagement, retention, development, workforce planning, performance, etc.
  • Provide solutions and recommendations around employee complaints, investigations, or interpersonal obstacles.
  • Execute Berkadia’s Performance Management process, coaching leaders on how to measure and address performance.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of employment law, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance while guiding senior leadership in taking tangible employment actions. Partner with internal Legal team and external counsel as needed.
  • Champion company-wide or departmental HR initiatives to drive engagement within assigned business unit(s), infusing change management and adoption strategies.
  • Partner with other SMEs or departments as needed to provide best in class service to the business (HR Operations, Legal, Payroll, Risk, Recruitment, Total Rewards, Learning & Development, Talent Acquisition).
  • Other duties as assigned.

Travel Expectations:

Domestic travel required for on-site training, meetings, and events up to 25-50% of the time

  • Demonstrated excellence in influential leadership and consultation.
  • Ability to build relationships across varying levels of the organization, specifically comfortability consulting executives.
  • Deep knowledge of human resources best practices and employment law.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities with outstanding attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing with all levels of an organization.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • PHR/SHRM-CP certificate preferred
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • 10+ years of experience in a similar position
