Job description

Sr. Product Manager - Platform Services

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Product Manager to deliver on our cross-vertical Platform vision. In this role, you will be responsible for setting an outcome-oriented product strategy and driving the overall vision, GTM, and execution for our platform products. As the P&L leader of your products, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams including design, marketing, engineering, sales, and senior executive leadership to solve customer problems and achieve specific business objectives. You will define and lead various Platform Services such as Customer Portal, Developer Portal, Access Control, API Productization, E-Sign, SSO, Identity Validation, Chatbot, AI Services, and more, to support the platform moving forward.

This is a CPO-3 role with tremendous visibility and advancement potential. The role is at an intersection of fintech, insurtech, proptech, martech, IoT and traditional SaaS and offers tremendous career versatility and future optionality.

Your responsibilities will include guiding the end-to-end product lifecycle, from ideation to launch and ongoing optimization, while ensuring successful product commercialization and go-to-market execution. You will be the market, customer, and product expert within the organization, accountable for bookings, revenue, retention, and margin. This entails gathering and prioritizing market requirements, maximizing portfolio ROI through the right mix of product initiatives, and working closely with the development team to deliver capabilities that meet specified requirements and objectives.

The ideal candidate will possess exceptional business acumen, analytical rigor, product chops, along with a true sense of ownership and GM mindset. Technical familiarity is a strong plus while customer-centricity is a must have. 

What you will do:

  • Product Strategy:
    • Develop and articulate a clear product strategy aligned with business objectives and market demands.
    • Identify opportunities to address customer problems and drive incremental business value from conception to launch.
    • Analyze market trends, competition, and customer feedback to identify opportunities for product enhancements and innovation.
    • Strong communication skills including the ability to articulate the value of prioritized features and how they fit into a larger overall strategy.
  • Product and Platform Mastery:
    • Serve as an expert on platform and network strategy and outcomes
    • Deliver on a cohesive platform approach including centralized data fabric, sign-on, dashboards, portals, APIs, MFEs (UIs), and cross product integrations.
    • Define and deliver overall API strategy to productize API(s), including API Gateway, Event Bus, Webhooks, and a Developer Portal.
    • Define and deliver core Platform Services, such as MFA/SSO, e-sign, Admin Portals, Account Portals.
    • Recognize product performance from an end-user standpoint and engage in conversations on all facets of the products, including data quality, responsiveness, reliability, etc.
  • Ability to Learn Quickly and Be Resourceful
    • Ability to learn quickly on new technologies, architectures, and platform architectures
    • Resourcefulness in quickly discovering “knowing what you don’t know” and finding a way to establish effectiveness quickly
  • Roadmap Planning:
    • Create and manage the product roadmap, ensuring alignment with company goals and customer needs.
    • Prioritize features and releases based on a deep understanding of market dynamics and customer requirements.
    • Clearly articulate the problems that need to be solved for customers and quantify the value to be created.
    • Define and deliver the Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) for each strategic bet.
  • Stakeholder/Customer Obsession – Keeping Customers Top of Mind:
    • Own the product roadmaps, continually managing them to support the product vision and key business priorities.
    • Ensure products are working well and evolving appropriately for global functions and markets.
    • Conduct regular end-user product feedback sessions and advocate for the end-user experience.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Collaborate with engineering, design, marketing, sales, and other cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software products on time and within budget.
    • Foster a culture of collaboration and open communication to drive successful product development.
    • Join forces with other Product Managers across the organization to ensure alignment and coordination across products.
    • Be the catalyst for collaboration, partnering with Initiative Leads & Stakeholders to maximize value delivery.
    • Own the product backlogs, participating in Intake Product Triage and prioritizing the backlog for all products.
  • Product Development:
    • Lead the end-to-end product development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, and release.
    • Make data-driven decisions and continuously iterate on products to optimize performance and user satisfaction.
    • Oversee changes being refined and implemented by the Product Owner to ensure coherent vision and prioritization.
  • Capacity and Resource Management – Managing Your Product Team:
    • Manage capacity and demand for the team, including development, market enablement, bug resolution, and testing.
    • Provide capacity forecasting based on the prioritized roadmap to ensure end-to-end readiness for releases and major new features.

  • Analytical mindset with the ability to make data-driven decisions and prioritize work for maximum impact.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in complex decision-making scenarios.
  • Demonstrated leadership in cross-functional teams and delivering results in dynamic environments.
  • Strategic thinker capable of analyzing market conditions, competitive landscapes, and industry trends to identify key customer problems.

Nice to Haves: 

  • Previous experience in building and scaling platforms or in platform SaaS companies is a big plus.
  • Previous strategy consulting, investment banking, or technical consulting experience is a plus
  • MBA or advanced degree is a plus
  • PMP, CSPO, or other certifications are a plus 
  • Ability to build and run self-service data analytics - e.g. SQL queries - is a plus.
  • Experience with Figma, Miro, JIRA/Confluence, Asana, Monday, Aha
  • Familiarity with APIs, containerized Microservices, MFEs, and architecture
  • Familiarity with IoT
  • Familiarity with the self storage industry
