We're looking for a dedicated Claims Consultant to manage Directors and Officers (D&O) claims and contribute to our mission of delivering exceptional service.

About The Role

As a D&O Claims Consultant, you will handle a diverse caseload of public D&O claims from start to finish. Your role will involve managing claims through litigation, working closely with defense counsel, and ensuring high-quality resolutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of claim management from assignment to resolution.
  • Conduct thorough investigations, analyze information, and determine coverage, liability, and damages.
  • Communicate clear positions on coverage, liability, and damages to insured parties and other stakeholders.
  • Set and adjust expense and indemnity reserves as needed.
  • Present cases for reserve authority beyond established levels to management.
  • Develop and implement strategies for claim resolution through effective negotiations.
  • Manage litigation and counsel, including planning, budgeting, and reviewing bills.
  • Analyze potential extra-contractual liabilities.
  • Attend trials and mediations as necessary.
  • Contribute to broader organizational goals by participating in audits, projects, training, and product development.
  • Prepare detailed reports and deliver presentations on case developments and industry trends.
  • Collaborate with business partners to address claim trends and provide superior customer service.
  • Provide key training and marketing support to underwriters.
  • Represent the company at industry events on risk management and claims topics.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctorate degree preferred; a four-year college degree is required.
  • Minimum of five years of experience handling litigated public D&O coverage and liability cases.
  • Background in public D&O or financial services claims is a plus.
  • Strong strategic thinking and execution skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, negotiation, and advanced technical claim handling skills.
  • Effective time management, task prioritization, and desk management.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.

Work Arrangement

This role offers flexibility with hybrid or remote work options. Candidates located near one of our office locations (e.g., Hartford, San Antonio, Lake Mary, Phoenix, Naperville) are expected to work in the office three days a week. Those residing further from an office will have a remote work arrangement with occasional office visits as needed.

Compensation

The annual base salary for this role ranges from \(120,000 to \)180,000. Actual pay may vary based on performance, proficiency, and required competencies. In addition to base salary, our total compensation package includes potential bonuses, long-term incentives, and other rewards.
