Missions

Function Overview:

You will join the Wakam Underwriting team to help us profitably grow our business on the UK market. You will report to the UK Chief Underwriting Officer.

This role will lead the Motor underwriting in the UK in conjunction with UK Chief Underwriting Officer and the UK Chief Underwriting Officer, Motor & Mobility

Responsibilities:

  • Leading the distribution, underwriting and product strategy for motor portfolio, working with revenue, claims and other teams
  • Growing motor portfolio and deliver financial objectives in-line with the business plan
  • Accountable for the underwriting results for motor
  • Deliver effective portfolio management
  • Management of Delegated Authority and the interactions with the market (MGAs, Brokers and Direct clients)
  • Responsible for Product Governance activities
  • Acting as a product and market expert across the UK and Europe
Profile Requirements

Experience & key skills:

  • Strong understanding of underwriting principles, risk assessment, and pricing, specifically for motor and mobility insurance products in the UK, both personal and commercial.
  • Experience in underwriting innovative insurance products such as telematics, connectivity solutions, and services for the gig economy.
  • Deep knowledge of the insurance industry landscape, including market trends, competition, and emerging opportunities.
  • Proficient in developing underwriting policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and shaping the company’s underwriting guidelines.
  • Ability to manage financial aspects such as business forecasting, budget monitoring, and profitability.
  • Strong focus on customer satisfaction and consumer duty, coupled with the ability to assess and mitigate risks associated with underwriting decisions.
  • Proven leadership skills with the capacity to manage stakeholders effectively and strong analytical skills to assess and report on insurance risks.
