Job description

CapeZero is looking for a high-performing QA Automation Engineer to join our small team. As a member of the Engineering team, you will be responsible for building and improving our digital platform. You will work closely with financial modeling experts, other software engineers, product designers, and other stakeholders to build a robust backend system.

Responsibilities
  • Defining test cases/plans associated with specifications based on business requirements.
  • Understand the nuances of project finance and translate modeling needs to a robust test plan covering edge cases.
  • Identifying enhancements and modifications that improve product quality.
  • Fixing small bugs, adding automated unit tests, and improving the usability/design of the APIs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop, test, and maintain test cases using Playwright.
  • Help maintain automated testing and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Participate in code reviews, bug triage, and provide feedback on technical designs.
  • Encourage a culture of continuous improvement and learning for oneself and team members.
  • Running regression tests continually and being able to communicate with the team test coverage, the status of various lower environments, and their stability.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on QA Automation using Typescript and Playwright.
  • Highly skilled in finding, documenting/communicating bugs/issues and developing a hypothesis of why/when they occur.
  • Proficiency in Git, Docker, and Linux systems.
  • Knowledge of front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern JavaScript frameworks (specifically React).
  • Experience testing APIs and Single Page Applications (SPA).
  • Strong understanding of software testing and test-driven development

Nice-to-haves:

  • Previous experience working on a B2B SaaS product.
  • Experience with E2E QA/Testing using Cypress, Selenium, etc.
  • Some experience with Django or similar web frameworks.
  • Experience with modern DevOps practices, such as continuous integration, delivery, and deployment. Experience with Fly, Railway, Render, or other modern cloud platforms preferred.
  • You’ve built something cool on your own because you enjoy doing what you do.
  • Open source contributions.
  • University degree in Computer Science or related engineering field.
  • Passion for renewable energy and sustainability, and the desire to make a positive impact on the world.
