Blue Ridge Power (BRP) is seeking a Manager, Field Equipment, to join our team! The Manager, Field Equipment will be a responsible for assisting project and fleet leadership in managing all aspects of BRP’s project based heavy equipment fleet planning and maintenance needs, both administrative and technical. The Manager, Field Equipment is responsible for the execution of efficient operations and cost-effective systems to meet current and future needs of the project through fiscal responsibility in equipment planning, managing and maintenance execution, providing quality service to project stakeholders, and leading the initiative to ensure the availability of a functioning and utilized heavy equipment plan. Direct reports will be field based equipment supervisors.

This position reports directly to the Senior Fleet Manager. Position can be remote with travel of up to 50%.

What You’ll Do:

  • Responsible for leadership and supervision of Field Equipment Supervisors
  • Presents periodic performance reports and metrics to the Senior Fleet Manager and other project shareholders (APM, Cost Control, PM).
  • Coordinate and prioritize workflow to ensure timely completion of repairs and maintenance tasks throughout network.
  • Take the lead in requesting heavy equipment, owned and rented through Senior Fleet Manager and select rental partners.
  • Work closely with Shop Manager to assign tasks to Field Mechanics and Oil and Lube Technicians based on skill level, workload, and deadlines.
  • This business leader will provide oversight of maintenance, lease operations, and capital expenditures for the fleet including development of CAPEX budget.
  • Provide professional management and leadership to the company, including mentoring and developing of key management members.
  • Play an important role in cultivating and managing major national accounts, interacting regularly with key vendors.
  • Implement suggestions that improve or change processes in support of the company’s growth objectives.
  • Research, identify and present ideas/suggestions that support cost reductions while assuring quality & on-time products that meet our fleet’s needs.
  • Ensure standard operating procedures are being adhered to.
  • Ensure Best-In-Class operational performance through review of utilization metrics of all major equipment. Measure actual to expected performance and take actions as appropriate to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Develop, coach and lead Fleet Maintenance teams and strategic vendor/supplier partners in anticipation/response to business environment dynamics.
  • Manage fleet teams to continually improve field management in fleet maintenance including equipment procurement, maintenance, repair, and disposal.
  • Lead negotiations and annual equipment spec reviews.
  • Interact with operators and field leadership to understand their needs, explain repair options and address any concerns or questions.
  • Make recommendations on how to best leverage new and emerging technologies.
  • Optimize preventative maintenance program to maximize vehicle uptime while minimizing cost.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Must-Haves:

  • 10+ years of experience in the fleet maintenance or fleet management industry, with an emphasis on major construction operations.
  • Possess experience in building strategic and operational plans that deliver results over multiple cycles.
  • Strong analytic and financial acumen.
  • Demonstrated experience in budgeting, and extensive P&L management experience.
  • Demonstration in building high-performing, customer-focused teams that deliver meaningful results.
  • Strong technical knowledge.
  • Strong analytic and financial acumen.
  • Interpersonal competencies, including trust, integrity, adaptability, leadership, ability to motivate, coach and mentor.
  • Advanced level skills with Microsoft Suite applications.
  • Excellent organization skills, proven written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Utility-Scale Solar Industry experience.
  • Knowledge of CAT’s computer diagnostic system.

Education and Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study is preferred.
  • Must possess and retain a current valid driver's license is required.
  • Microsoft Office Specialist: Excel Certification is preferred.
  • OSHA 30 or greater is preferred.
  • FMCSA Certification is preferred.

Working Environment and Physical Demand:

  • This position can be remote, but will require travel to multiple project sites.
  • This position will include 50% travel dependent upon project location.
  • Must be able to sit/stand at a desk and utilize a computer, for extended periods of time, lift 50lbs, walk/stand for extended periods of time, outdoors.
