The Role

Congo Brands is looking for a Sr. Space Planning Analyst to add to our Sales Intelligence team! In this position, you will be responsible for designing and refining product display layouts to ensure efficient use of retail space, while aligning with the goals of our brands and our retail partners. By analyzing sales figures, market trends, and consumer preferences, you will identify areas for growth and improvement. You’ll track the success of these layouts using key performance data to create visual plans and test different scenarios. Collaboration across departments will be key to successfully executing our category strategies and driving growth, while staying informed on market trends will also be vital for shaping future planning initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, update, and manage planograms that meet both company and retailer standards, ensuring optimal space utilization and alignment with merchandising goals.
  • Utilize sales data, market trends, and consumer behavior insights to inform space planning decisions and identify opportunities for category growth.
  • Monitor and assess the effectiveness of planograms and space strategies through analysis of key performance indicators such as sales, inventory levels, and space productivity.
  • Apply space planning software (e.g., JDA Space Planning, Nielsen Spaceman) to create visual representations of category layouts and conduct scenario analysis.
  • Prepare and present detailed reports and visual presentations on category space planning strategies and outcomes to internal stakeholders and retailer partners.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as Marketing, Sales, Product Development, and Supply Chain to implement category strategies.
  • Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders and strategic partners to drive category growth.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and consumer behavior to inform the strategic direction of the category.
  • Additional reporting and adhoc requests as needed

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, Economics, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in Category Management, ideally in the Beverage industry.
  • Experience with Blue Yonder (JDA) and/or other major space planning tools, experience with updating product databases is required.
  • Advanced skills in Excel, and other data/visualization tools.
  • XLOOKUPs/Pivot Tables a must.
  • Proficient in other M365 tools such as PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint
  • Hands-on experience with syndicated data platforms (SPINS, Nielsen, or IRI) is required.
  • Proven strong analytical, problem-solving, critical thinking skills and a desire to be a lifelong learner.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex data and insights to non-technical audiences.
  • Strong project management and organization skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
  • Proficient understanding of retail consumer behavior and market dynamics.
  • Passion for the beverage industry/CPG and a drive to make a meaningful impact on our business.
