Your missions

WHO WE ARE: At Fors Marsh, we take on issues that matter. We are a team of researchers, advisors, and communicators working together to shape the systems that shape our lives. We look at human behavior from all angles to design targeted solutions that influence decision-making and move people to action. We are committed to the problem, not just the project, and we are intentional about taking on work and forming partnerships that balance purpose, people, planet, and profit. We are a certified B Corporation, a Just employer, and a 2019-2024 Top Workplace. We hold ourselves accountable to the values that have always defined us. And those values drive us to be the best possible versions of ourselves-for each other, our communities, our clients, and the world.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR: The Program Evaluation & Policy Analysis (PEPA) practice area at Fors Marsh is seeking an experienced and motivated Survey Sampling Statistician to join our Survey Analytics, Logistics, and Techniques (SALT) team primarily focused on research methods and data analysis. This individual’s primary responsibility will be to provide methodological and statistical consultation and support for quantitative measurement objectives achieved through survey data collection instruments designed and administered specifically for our clients.

Responsibilities include:

  • Designing and executing sampling and weighting plans for various probability and non-probability survey efforts ranging from large national surveys to smaller survey efforts targeting specific populations.
  • Applying sophisticated principles in the fields of survey methodology, sampling theory, survey statistics, and statistical inference to conduct and analyze complex national surveys.
  • Preparing technical reports, presentations, and executive summaries.
  • Advancing the reputation of our organization through participation at professional conferences, publication of research studies, and continued technical training.
  • Participating in project meetings and assisting project managers with development of research projects.
  • Serving both internal and external clients as a consultation resource for addressing concerns, questions, and requests which require subject matter expertise in the theory and application of statistics in sampling and inference; and providing recommendations pertaining to existing and future sampling and weighting designs.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and experience with sample design and sampling implementation, weighting, non-response bias analysis/adjustments, missing data techniques, questionnaire design, and assessing/minimizing survey bias, variance, and error.
  • Master’s degree in survey research, statistics, mathematics or a related field with emphasis on Survey Methodology required. Coursework should have included the completion of at least one formal sampling theory course and one probability theory course offered in a department of statistics or mathematics.
  • 10 or more years of experience working as a sampling statistician.
  • Excellent planning and organization skills; the ability to understand clients’ research objectives; and the ability, initiative, and vision to formulate and execute a plan to achieve those objectives.
  • Experience with the statistical software packages SAS, Stata, R, SPSS, and Microsoft Office computer software applications.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be a US Citizen and consent to a full background check due to our federal contract requirements.
  • Applicants may be subject to a low-level government security investigation and must meet eligibility criteria for access to sensitive information.

We Offer:

Our benefits typically meet or exceed our competitors’ packages. Ways we are unique?

  • Ability to make an impact on people’s lives, both internal and external to the organization.
  • Top-tier health, dental, vision, and long and short-term disability coverage all covered at 100% for employee coverage.
  • Remote work.
  • Our company culture, which values balance and allows each employee to take leave as they require it to balance the responsibilities of both their work and home lives without worrying about depleting their available leave hours.
  • We provide a floating holiday bank so you can celebrate the days you value.
  • Generous matching retirement contributions and no vesting period starting the third month of employment.
  • Dedicated training and development budgets to expand your expertise and grow your skillset.
  • You can volunteer your way with paid time off.
  • You can participate in Fors Marsh staff-led affinity groups.
  • Our employees receive product and service discounts through the certified B Corp network.
