Summary of Job Duties:
Research Program Manager is responsible for project coordination and management skills to provide effective and organized project management for medium to large information technology and research infrastructure projects. This position is responsible for all aspects of the development, implementation and management of assigned projects and provides a single point of contact for those projects. Primary responsibilities include implementation and support for WPRCI internal funding mechanisms, oversight and coordination of the Protocol Review and Monitoring Committee (PRMC), and leadership of associated workflows. Performs analysis and continuous process improvement with an understanding of technical and operational problems and potential solutions, as they relate to the current and future research systems and research infrastructure environments. Performs return on investment (ROI) analyses and provides strategic recommendations. Project management responsibilities include, but are not limited to: formulation of strategies to meet needs, conduct of regular workflows, refinement and documentation of workflows, defining project scope and objectives, application of project management tools and techniques, appropriate regular communications with all levels of the UAMS organization, and scheduling and conducting of project-related meetings. Ability to plan and lead group and individual project meetings, identify project milestones, evaluate and recommend process workflow, plan, coordinate, test, implement, train, and manage projects. Knowledge of the process of biomedical research, clinical research, and scholarly activity and excellent interpersonal and customer service skills are a must. This position is a cornerstone member of a team dedicated to obtaining and maintaining NCI Designation and will be directly engaged in submitting the application for NCI Designation and subsequent renewals.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in one of the social or behavioral sciences such as psychology, social work, public health, sociology, anthropology, health science or related field PLUS Five years of clinical research experience.

  • Experience administering grant funding mechanisms.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters degree.

  • 5 years research administration experience.

  • 3 years project management experience.

  • Experience working with IT developers on reporting solutions.

  • Project management certification or lean 6 sigma or other similar training

  • Redcap survey building.


Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees internal cancer research funding mechanisms, to include working closely with Cancer Institute Leadership and Research IT to centralize all metrics and reporting for internal funding efforts.

  • Responsible for maintaining metrics, reporting on research funding programs, contributing to and giving presentations as needed, and assessing return on investment (ROI) of the various funding mechanisms.

  • Serves as Cancer Institute administration’s expert for internal funding mechanisms and should have a broad enough view to provide strategic recommendations for the various mechanisms as well as the collective program of internal funding mechanisms.

  • Responsible for ensuring internal funding programs are continually optimized through the use of current electronic systems, evaluation and process improvements.

  • Responsible for supplying data for all NCI Designation related submissions and events and preparing related presentation or application materials.

  • Directly involved in overseeing and coordinating the Protocol Review and Monitoring Committee including receiving submissions, setting meeting agendas, attending meetings and recording minutes, maintaining committee records, communicating with investigators, and developing committee policies and practices in conjunction with leadership.

  • Monitor accrual on clinical trials using electronic systems, identify underperforming trials and report to Protocol Review and Monitoring Committee. Position will update and maintain charter for the Protocol Review and Monitoring Committee.

  • Regularly review CCSG Data Table 4 data for compliance with the NCI CCSG ensuring accurate clinical trial categorization and data and will work closely with Research IT to resolve issues and implement changes.

  • Interact with Cancer Institute senior leaders to execute newly developed projects or workflows as needed to pursue or maintain research infrastructure in alignment with NCI Designation.

  • Responsible for evaluating and improving these workflows and projects to optimal performance.

  • Responsible for coordinating preparation of relevant materials for NCI Designation application, renewal and related site visits, including those from external advisors.

  • Other duties as assigned.
