As of October 15, 2024 Loblaw has adopted the following Hybrid working model (a combination of working between the office and remotely). Colleagues will continue working remotely up to 1 day a week, while spending the other 4 days in the office.

Quality Assurance - Intern

Reporting directly to Director, Quality Assurance, the incumbent will be responsible for supporting the implementation and maintenance of the Quality System in compliance with Health Canada requirements applicable to wholesaling and distribution of drugs, medical devices and natural health products. This includes reviewing documents and providing support in the execution of supplier quality management, change control, non-conformances, CAPAs, validation, etc.  

Duties and Responsibilities:

Working closely within Operations, Pharmacy Procurement, Category and external suppliers, the Quality Assurance Intern will deliver the maintenance of quality systems and standards.

  • Change Control – Article Create/Listing/Delisting Change Control
    • Review and determine National and Provincial Drug Schedules
    • Verify and update product set-up in SAP against Health Canada databases, National Drug Schedules, and Provincial Drug Schedules
    • Update the master list of drug schedules
  • Document/Record Management:
    • Maintain organization of all quality documents
    • Update quality systems log sheets/tracker
  • Supplier Quality
    • Create a list of vendor quality contacts
    • Create a list of vendors and products with allowable temperature excursion and allowance to use MKT
  • Validation
    • Compile all temperature data collected from national transport lane mapping studies
    • Assist in the execution of the transport lane mapping and cold chain pack-out qualification studies

Skills and Experience:

This position requires a strong level of initiative and judgment in order to organize and prioritize tasks, workload and projects. A strong ability to influence while maintaining courtesy, tact and diplomacy is required in dealing with colleagues in every day working relationships.

  • In-process University degree in Bachelor of Science
  • Desire to learn and apply Health Canada regulations and guidance documents applicable to drugs, natural health products and medical devices

  • Computer skills to produce effective reports, documents, spreadsheets and presentations.
  • Communicates with clarity, verbally and in one on one or group situations, or over the telephone.
  • Communicates well in writing by composing clear documents; facility with editing and/or proof-reading is required.
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications (especially Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
