Financial Auditor

 
This is an entry level on-site position, located in our Nashville, Tennessee office.

The Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury is seeking a Financial Auditor to help us protect the financial integrity of Tennessee by providing objective information about the state's financial condition and the performance of state agencies. 

As a Financial Auditor within the Division of State Audit, you will conduct financial and compliance audits of state departments, agencies, institutions, community colleges, and state universities in the Middle Tennessee area, in accordance with generally accepted government auditing standards. As a Comptroller employee, you will have the opportunity to contribute to our mission of making government work better and produce meaningful audit work, all while having the time to enjoy life outside of work with our flexible scheduling and 37.5-hour standard work weeks.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Examining and reviewing records, reports, financial statements, and management practices for state government entities. 
  • Professionally representing the Comptroller’s Office and communicating clearly with auditees and team members.
  • Producing neat, concise, logical, and well-supported working papers that comply with auditing standards and best practices.
  • Performing quality data analyses that accurately support audit opinions and findings with proper perspective.
  • Researching and applying relevant auditing and accounting standards.
     
Qualifications
You are qualified for this position if you meet the following criteria:
  • Graduate of an accredited college or university with a minimum of 24 semester hours in accounting
  • Strong communication skills
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Microsoft Office
  • Valid US driver license

Travel
Overnight travel is required within the state. The frequency of travel required is dependent upon assignment.  Assignments are based on business needs, but employee preference for travel is taken into consideration.
