Job description

Job Description:

The Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst will be responsible for working in tandem with a business operations analyst(s) to design, develop, deploy, and support Power BI reports, dashboards and datasets that meet business and technical requirements. The incumbent will support internal partnerships by creating and integrating scalable solutions with focus on Power BI based technologies that drive strategic business outcomes to enable data-driven insights.

  • Analyze, design, develop, deploy, and support Power BI dashboards, reports and reporting models that meet business and technical requirements.
  • Develop evolutionary maintenance of the Power BI environment, performance, capability, and availability.
  • Define and document business intelligence policies and procedures, standards, and metrics to support analytic business rules.
  • Analyze, translate, and present data through informative visuals and reports that aid in decision making process.
  • Develop interactive visual reports, dashboards, and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) scorecards.
  • Provide subject matter expertise (SME) in analysis, requirements gathering, design, coordination, customization, testing, and support of Power BI reports.
  • Collaborate with internal partners to ensure quality of system usability and performance.
  • Test and modify databases to ensure operative reliability.
  • Safeguard assets by planning and implementing disaster recovery, back-up procedures, information security and control structures.
  • Write, test, troubleshoot, and debug queries.
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis using T-SQL query language within the database systems using a process-oriented approach.
  • Perform other duties that support the overall objective of the position.

Education Required:    
  • Bachelor's degree or technical certification in mathematics, statistics, data analysis, computer science, or related discipline.
  • Or, any combination of education and experience which would provide the required qualifications for the position.

Experience Required:
  • 3+ years of developing Data Analysis Expressions (DAX) queries in Power BI, to develop dynamic reports and dashboards.
  • 3 + year(s) SQL coding, SQL Server schemas, queries, storage procedures, SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) experience for loading and extracting data. 
  • Experience in data visualization, dashboards, reports, KPI scorecards, DAX queries, and SQL database management.
  • Experience structuring and analyzing large quantities of data and information for statistical and analytical modeling.

License/Certification Required:
  • Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate.
  • LSS Green Belt.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Knowledge of: DAX Language;  business requirements in BI context and design efficient data models;  data governance, data integrity, master data management, data quality design, develop, and deployment best practices; DevOps practices;  Microsoft Office Suite. 
  • Skill in: Data modeling; presentation; communication; analytical; problem solving, technical acumen.
  • Ability to: Articulate technical concepts to less technically experienced colleagues; prioritize workload, meet deadlines, and multi-task while maintaining attention to detail; develop, establish, and maintain effective working relationships with business and technical members of the organization through collaboration and respect.
