Your missions

Applied Systems, Inc., a global pioneer in insurance technology, is actively seeking a Compliance Manager to join our Privacy and Compliance team.

In this role, the Compliance Manager collaborates with Product Management, Engineering, Human Resources, and other business units to ensure that all Applied products, services, and processes adhere to the relevant regulations and standards. They utilize their comprehensive knowledge of compliance, infrastructure, and cloud providers to identify and address compliance issues, risks, and gaps in collaboration with various teams. They maintain a close working relationship with the Legal, Privacy, and Security teams, proactively communicating their findings.

Successful Compliance Managers flourish in technically challenging environments within the insurance industry. They have the capacity to think from both a regulatory and business standpoint. They are skilled at navigating stakeholders through complex subjects and play a crucial role in developing proactive and preventative compliance measures. This ensures the safety of Applied and its user's data in an ever-changing regulatory landscape.

Additionally, they will be at the forefront of the company's design and implementation of its inaugural ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) program, further demonstrating their leadership and strategic planning capabilities.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Responsible for the development, implementation, and management of the company's compliance program, ensuring it aligns with current laws, regulations, and standards.
  • Take ownership for the design and roll-out of the company's first Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) program, ensuring it aligns with overall business objectives.
  • Stay updated on ESG trends and regulatory changes, integrating these insights into the company's ESG program to drive continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Measure and report on the effectiveness and impact of the ESG program, using these insights to inform future strategy and decision-making.
  • Work closely with various departments to incorporate compliance into all aspects of operations.
  • Identify potential compliance issues, providing guidance on new product features, deviations, and changes in the infrastructure.
  • Perform regular compliance reviews and risk assessments, implementing corrective actions as necessary. Offer training and guidance to staff on compliance matters, promoting a culture of compliance throughout the organization. Regularly update senior management on the status of the compliance program, identifying any gaps and coordinating cross-functional team meetings to address and close these gaps.
  • Handle compliance inquiries and issues promptly and professionally, accurately communicating our compliance position and programs to auditors and customers.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and changes in compliance laws and regulations, driving improvements in existing processes and developing new innovative and efficient solutions. Build positive relationships with regulatory bodies, internal and external stakeholders, and manage any inquiries from these entities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by immediate manager or management team.

Candidates should have a proven track record of developing and implementing compliance programs, ideally within an agile environment. Previous experience working with product and engineering groups, as well as familiarity with compliance programs in the US, Canada, and Europe, will be considered a significant advantage.
