A Day in the Life

The Business Development Manager for Acute Care and Monitoring (ACM) is responsible for ensuring effective long-term partnerships, providing support and value-added services to these selected accounts in close collaboration with the ACM Business Unit teams and in aligning with their strategic goals. The role will collaborate closely with other MDT Business Units such as Surgical, Cardiovascular and Minimally Invasive Therapy Groups strategic account functions to ensure a consistent approach across Medtronic.

You will be responsible for:

  • Promoting ACM’s unique value partnerships and coordinating the implementation of specific related commercial initiatives.
  • Developing and driving the appropriate ACM portfolio management strategy in collaboration with the Business Units to gain market share, optimize pricing strategy, and build long-term contractual agreements and relationships with our Strategic Accounts.
  • Assessing market conditions (SWOT, economics, players, capacity, patient market opportunity and patient referral needed to meet annual sales plan) in target accounts.
  • Building strong and lasting relationships with key decision makers and KOL’s at both national and regional levels, commercial stake holders and NHS Commissioning bodies. Understanding the NHS structures and how its evolving.
  • Establishing in and around the targeted accounts the referral network, build up patient care pathways, build awareness, create acceptance and drive adoption of the ACM Portfolio by educating, referring physicians on clinical and economic evidence demonstrating improved patient and economic outcomes.
  • Understanding the true customer need and anticipating external forces that could impact future market growth and continuously increase awareness and interest in the therapy for our clinicans
  • Executing key market development programs by partnering closely with the sales teams, country & the regional marketing team in developing and implementing local, tactical activities.
  • Developing centres of excellence and organize clinician / Nurse trainings to expand the therapy knowledge, working alongside NWE Marketing, Health Economics and Education Events colleagues to further reduce economic barriers and ensure market share is protected from the competition.


Must Haves

  • 3+ years of professional experience in market & business development or sales
  • Experience in developing and influencing stakeholders
  • Strategic and clear thinker with strong commercial acumen and robust logic / analytical capabilities
  • Able to work in a fast changing, demanding and highly matrixed business environment and who can work independently
  • Medical device industry experience
  • Thorough understanding of the national / local health care system
