Description

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Klickitat Valley Health (KVH) is seeking a highly qualified Tele-Health Pulmonologist to serve as the Medical Director for our developing Outpatient Respiratory Therapy Program. This role is integral in ensuring the highest quality of patient care, advising on clinical policies, and providing education and oversight to our respiratory therapy staff. This position will work 10-15 hours per week.

 

Klickitat Valley Health is a rural, critical-access hospital located in scenic Goldendale, Washington only two hours from Portland along the breathtaking Columbia River Gorge. KVH offers emergency and acute inpatient care and a full scope of ancillary services including General Surgery, Diagnostic Imaging, Laboratory, Respiratory Therapy, PT / OT, Behavioral Health, Dental, Pain Management, Optometry and Hospice. The hospital also owns a busy, well-established primary clinic that is located on the hospital campus. Inpatient care is managed by 24/7 Hospitalist staff. KVH employs over 300 staff.

Qualifications

Minimum Education, Training & Experience (includes licenses or certifications):

 

Education / Licensure:

  • Medical Degree from an accredited institution.

  • Board Certification in Pulmonology required.

  • Current Medical License to practice in the state of Washington.

 

Experience:

  • Previous experience in an outpatient respiratory therapy setting preferred.

  • Experience in Tele-Health Services preferred.

 

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of respiratory therapy practices, equipment, and patient care standards.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

  • Commitment to continuous improvement and quality assurance.

Work Environment:
  • Remote position with flexible hours.

  • Anticipated workload is 10 hours or less per week.

  • Must have access to reliable internet and tele-health communication tools.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Patient Care Policies and Procedures:

    1. Review and advise on the development and implementation of patient care policies and procedures.

    2. Ensure that all policies and procedures comply with current clinical guidelines and best practices.

  2. Equipment and Supply Needs:

    1. Advise on the selection of medical equipment and supplies necessary for the respiratory therapy program.

    2. Stay updated with the latest advancements in respiratory therapy technology and recommend updates as needed.

  3. Review of Tests and Treatments:

    1. Review completed respiratory tests and treatments to ensure accuracy and efficacy.

    2. Document findings and provide detailed reports to ordering providers.

  4. Resource for Respiratory Therapists:

    1. Act as a primary resource for KVH's outpatient respiratory therapists.

    2. Provide guidance and support in complex clinical situations.

  5. Quality Review and Feedback:

    1. Review and offer constructive criticism on the quality of therapist performance.

    2. Develop and implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance therapist performance.

  6. Education and Training:

    1. Provide ongoing education and training to respiratory therapists.

    2. Offer general education sessions to KVH providers and staff on respiratory care topics.

    3. Stay informed about the latest trends and advancements in pulmonary care and disseminate this information to the team.

  7. Communication:

    1. Maintain open and effective communication with all members of the healthcare team.

    2. Ensure timely and clear communication of patient care plans and recommendations
