About Fluent

Every business's relationship with data will radically change once every decision-maker has all their data at their fingertips. This is now possible with LLMs.

We help our customers answer questions like:

  • “Which artists achieved more than 100 million streams over the last year?”

  • “How many donations did our charity receive last month?”

  • “Which of our customers are about to churn?”

We allow business leaders to instantly access the insights they need using natural language, allowing data teams to focus on more strategic tasks instead of ad hoc requests.

We recently raised a $7.5M investment round and work with brands like Bain & Co. and NBC Universal.

👋 How we work at Fluent

Full-time position, remote-friendly (must be based in the UK) /in-person in London

At Fluent, we believe that a small team of amazing people can outperform the average team of 100 people. What sets us apart is not just what we do, but how we do it. Here’s what our team has shared about the attributes that make Fluent a unique and rewarding place to work:

  • Self-managing and self-starting: When we see a problem or area of improvement we just go and make it better. We don't wait for permission or need a fully scoped solution to make things happen.

  • Trusting and independent: We have the freedom to try things our way. We trust each other to do what work best for them, from experimenting with new tools and methods to working flexibly around their lives.

  • Collaborative and supportive: We are flexible and helpful to each other, quick to jump on huddles to resolve anything. We are there as a sounding board whenever people need.

So we think that people who appreciate this working style will have the highest chance of being successful at Fluent. Please see our careers page for more about life at Fluent.

🧐 Who are we looking for?

We’re looking for a motivated and technically curious intern who is excited to work at the intersection of data and AI. The ideal candidate has a strong interest in SQL and business analytics and is eager to help companies integrate their data warehouses with Fluent. You'll be instrumental in ensuring that Fluent understands and interacts with each client’s unique data landscape. As part of our agile and fast-moving team, you'll gain hands-on experience and be directly involved in delivering value to our clients from day one.

Even if you think you don’t fulfil some of the requirements here, if you are excited about this role, please apply.

🎯 What will you be working on?

In training our LLMs on a company’s data warehouse, we need to teach Fluent about it’s concepts and business logic. Our primary focus is ensuring that our clients can easily and effectively set up and use Fluent to access their data insights:

  • Training Fluent: Help teach Fluent to understand each client’s business logic by integrating their metrics, definitions, metadata, and historical queries.

  • Client Onboarding: Assist in connecting client data warehouses to Fluent, ensuring a seamless setup process.

  • Documentation: Create clear and concise documentation to help clients and internal teams understand the setup process and best practices.

🤟🏼 You'd be a great fit if you:
  • Are driven and eager to contribute to something impactful.

  • Have a strong foundation in SQL and business analytics, and are keen to apply these skills in a real-world setting.

  • Enjoy writing and can create clear, concise documentation that others can easily follow.

  • Are excited to work in a startup environment where you can learn quickly and contribute to product development.

  • Have a proactive mindset, taking the initiative to solve problems and improve processes.

  • A bonus if you are comfortable interacting with clients and helping them navigate technical processes.

🦞 Benefits
  • Paid Internship: Competitive compensation. High-performing interns will be considered for full-time positions after the internship, offering a clear path to a rewarding career at Fluent.

  • Hands-On Experience with Cutting-Edge Technology: Work directly with large language models (LLMs) and AI tools that are shaping the future of data interaction.

  • Real-World Impact: Contribute to meaningful projects where your work will directly affect how our clients interact with their data.

  • Exposure to the Startup Environment: Gain insight into the fast-paced, dynamic world of a growing startup, where you can learn quickly and see the immediate impact of your contributions.

  • Learning and Growth Opportunities: Develop your skills in SQL, business analytics, and AI while working on real client projects. Receive mentorship and guidance from experienced professionals in data and AI.

⚙️ Interview Process

It's pretty short!

  1. Application: Send your CV and a paragraph on why you are interested in the role to careers@fluenthq.com.

  2. Culture Fit Interview: We get back to you and set up a 30 min interview with our CEO, Rob, on Zoom/Google Meet/etc. to talk about your experience, the company, and do culture fit stuff.

  3. Role Fit Interview: If that goes well, we'll conduct a 30 min interview with Dana and David, our Head of Customer Success and Head of Operations, respectively, at our office in Holborn (can be a video call if scheduling is tricky). This assessment will focus on a real-world problem related to Fluent.

  4. Trial Day Interview (paid): A paid workday with Fluent (£100 per day). You'll spend the morning working on a task, have lunch (if you come into our office) and spend time with the team and then demo what you worked on in the afternoon.

  5. Offer: And if that goes well, we’ll make you an offer!
