This is a remote position.

The role of a Senior Recruitment Consultant and Business Development Consultant involves driving new business and successfully filling positions by understanding and matching the needs of clients and candidates. This role requires providing quality, tailored, and bespoke recruitment services while meeting revenue targets. Additionally, the Senior Recruitment Consultant is responsible for mentoring Consultants and Trainees, being a market expert in their field, and establishing themselves as a recruiter of choice for key clients. Here are the key responsibilities and accountabilities of a Senior Recruitment Consultant and Business Development Consultant:

Sales Activity & Delivery:

  • Identifying, progressing, and converting sales leads.
  • Actively seeking and obtaining new business opportunities.
  • Meeting sales/NFI (Net Fee Income) targets in line with the business plan.
  • Sourcing suitable vacancies and establishing terms and conditions of service.
  • Attracting candidates using appropriate methods and processing applications efficiently.
  • Shortlisting and presenting qualified applicants for job vacancies.
  • Managing the recruitment and selection processes by liaising effectively with clients.
  • Building credibility within the market through networking internally and externally with clients.
  • Developing expertise in market rates and conditions within the sector to consult with candidates and clients.
  • Providing professional feedback to candidates and clients.
  • Ensuring compliance, administration, and aftercare services are aligned with company policies.
  • Conducting regular service reviews with clients and candidates for continuous improvement.

Client Management:

  • Serving clients, understanding their needs, and providing feedback on job fill success.
  • Advising clients on suitable recruitment strategies.
  • Developing and managing client relationships to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Ensuring clients receive a professional and comprehensive recruitment service.
  • Attending client visits, following up on business leads, and supporting Consultants during client visits.

Candidate Management:

  • Developing and managing candidate relationships to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Providing candidates with a professional and comprehensive recruitment service.
  • Building a strong network of talent and maintaining regular contact to review progress and performance.
  • Assisting Consultants with candidate interviews, coaching interview skills, and conducting pre-screens.
  • Managing temporary availability to meet client needs.
  • Proactively marketing candidates, conducting searches, and shortlisting CVs based on job order requests.
  • Ensuring CVs meet specific standards and reflect client requirements.
  • Managing the entire recruitment process, including offer management and dealing with counter offers.

Team Management & Leadership:

  • Supporting internal recruitment and mentoring, identifying potential recruitment consultants.
  • Training and developing Trainees while maintaining own performance.
  • Accompanying Consultants on candidate and client meetings to coach and develop techniques.

Key Result Areas:


  • Being well-liked in the industry.
  • Consistently achieving annual billing in excess of Β£120k.
  • Meeting or exceeding agreed sales targets/KPIs.
  • Meeting agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Achieving positive feedback from candidates and clients on service level.
