POSITION SUMMARY
The Manager, Language Services will play a pivotal role in coordinating and delivering language services to support EO’s global programs, events, and services. This role is essential in ensuring that EO’s content is accessible, culturally relevant, and consistent across multiple languages. The Manager will be responsible for overseeing translation, interpretation, and other language-related services, working closely with internal teams and external vendors to deliver high-quality, timely, and effective solutions that align with EO’s strategic goals.
 
With a deep understanding of cross-cultural communication and multilingual needs, the Manager will contribute to the global effectiveness of EO’s content and member engagement strategies. They will be expected to build and maintain a network of language service providers, manage service delivery, and ensure operational efficiency.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Management:
  • Oversee language service projects from initiation to completion, working closely with the Director of Language Services and Marketing and Creative Services teams.
  • Develop project timelines, allocate resources, and monitor progress to ensure timely and successful delivery.
  • Coordinate with linguists to assign tasks and provide necessary instructions and resources.
Language Service Coordination:
  • Manage vendor delivery of language services on-site at selected events to ensure optimal attendee experience.
  • Liaise with internal departments to understand project expectations and requirements.
  • Select appropriate methods and resources based on project needs and client preferences.
  • Implement quality control measures to ensure consistency and accuracy in all language services.
Team Collaboration:
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams to complete projects and provide language support and guidance.
  • Foster an inclusive work environment that values linguistic and cultural diversity.
  • Communicate effectively with EO staff and ensure satisfaction with the services provided.
Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate records of translation and interpretation projects, including project specifications and stakeholder communications.
  • Prepare regular reports on project status, resource utilization, and client feedback for management review.
  • Analyze and report on the effectiveness of language services, identifying areas for improvement and implementing necessary changes.
 
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in communications, project management and/or leading a translation service in a multicultural environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Translation, Interpretation, Linguistics, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in translation and interpretation coordination or project management, preferably in a multicultural or multilingual environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in at least two languages, including proficiency in English and one of the EO official languages (preferably either LATAM Spanish and/or Brazilian Portuguese).
  • Skills to interpret between EO official languages and English consecutively (and simultaneously preferably).
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities, with the capacity to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to ensuring accuracy and quality in language services.
  • Collaborative & consultative approach to working with many stakeholder groups.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in using translation software/tools and Microsoft Office is desirable.
 
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position is fully remote with hiring preferences in our LAC Region.
