The Role:
The Sr. Manager, AR & Revenue Accounting has strong team leadership and technical accounting skills to effectively manage our Meazure Learning AR and revenue accounting team. The Sr. Manager, AR & Revenue Accounting will lead the order to cash process with a focus on optimizing our month end close accuracy and efficiency. This role will develop strong cross-functional relationships as well as deep understanding of the Meazure Learning products to support compliance with ASC 606 revenue recognition while fostering operational excellence.
The Responsibilities:
- Manage month-end and quarter-end revenue close and billing processes including reviewing journal entries, balance sheet accounts reconciliations, fluctuation and trend analyses and timely preparation of financial reporting deliverables.
- Ownership of the billing operations to ensure accurate and complete billing information for accounting and reporting.
- Facilitate technical accounting research related to complex contractual arrangements and partnering with the business to support new revenue models under ASC 606.
- Ensure revenue is recorded in accordance with US GAAP and internal revenue recognition policies for new and existing ad products.
- Manage A/R collection efforts including ownership allowance and credit policies for customers/partners.
- Manage client and internal invoicing inquiries within reasonable turnaround timelines with a focus on customer satisfaction (internal and external).
- Coordinate external audit and internal review activities related to revenue recognition, credit, collections, and cash application.
- Collaborate with key internal stakeholders to provide accurate reporting of revenue as well as prepare revenue and deferred revenue reconciliations and disclosures.
- Partner with VP, Finance and Controller to maintain documentation, collaborating closely with cross functional teams to identify process gaps, develop, implement, and maintain controls.
- On a continuous basis, streamline processes across billing, credit, and collections.
- Analyze new and existing contracts and features including design, performance obligations, and pricing, to provide accounting, risk management support, and ensure operational readiness.
- Collaborate with Contracts, Sales Operations, FP&A, Product, and Marketing teams to support new product launches and ongoing business initiatives for our US and Canadian entities.
- Participate in special projects including acquisition integration and accounting system implementations, etc.
- Coach and develop a team of accounting professionals.
The Desired Attributes:
- 8+ years of relevant experience in accounting, including leadership experience in revenue recognition and product accounting
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA strongly preferred
- Proven technical accounting background, with a working knowledge of ASC 606
- Understanding of complex products and related revenue accounting implications
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities
- Proficient in NetSuite and/or Sage Intacct strongly preferred
- Acquisition/Merger experience desired
- SaaS experience desired
- Experienced in communicating with audiences at multiple levels, experience distilling complex concepts into concise with proven business partnering and collaboration skills
