We are recruiting on behalf of our client, Grindley Williams Engineering (GWE) in Lakeland, Florida.  This job posting is for full-time, w2 employment with GWE for our HOUSTON, TEXAS business.


Our client, Grindley Williams in Lakeland, Florida, is seeking a full-time Engineering Assistant (aka Engineering Technician I) to join their team – and we are helping them find the best candidate! The entry level role of the Engineering Tech is to assist the Professional Engineer while conducting forensic engineering inspections on residential and commercial buildings.  This role is primarily field work and requires occasional long days and overnight travel. Some office work is required, consisting of uploading and processing inspection data. The most qualified candidates will live in the northwest region of Houston, Texas. This position does not have a planned growth path - however, hardworking individuals with great attitudes may be considered for other positions as they come available.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Drives safely to and from site inspections on field days.
  • Communication and coordination with the Professional Engineering staff.
  • Effectively utilizes field tools and technology to assist engineers with data collection on site (ie photography).
  • Demonstrates knowledge and proficiency with forensic engineering terms/methodology.
  • Willingness and ability to obtain licenses/certifications as required.
  • Drafts engineering reports as needed.
  • Performs miscellaneous additional tasks as necessary.
  • Overnight travel as needed.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must live in the northwest region of Houston, Texas
  • Willing to travel overnight occasionally, which may include weekends in response to major storm damage.
  • Valid and active US Drivers License with clean Motor Vehicle Record
  • License to operate a drone would be a PLUS, but not required

Compensation$18.00 - $20.00
