Your missions

About Us:

Fieldguide is establishing a new state of trust for global commerce and capital markets through automating and streamlining the work of assurance and audit practitioners specifically within cybersecurity, privacy, and ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance). Put simply, we build software for the people who enable trust between businesses.

We’re based in San Francisco, CA, but built as a remote-first company that enables you to do your best work from anywhere. We're backed by top investors including 8VC, Floodgate, Y Combinator, DNX Ventures, Global Founders Capital, Justin Kan, Eric Ries, and more.

We value diversity — in backgrounds and in experiences. We need people from all backgrounds and walks of life to help build the future of audit and advisory. Fieldguide’s team is inclusive, driven, humble and supportive. We are deliberate and self-reflective about the kind of team and culture that we are building, seeking teammates that are not only strong in their own aptitudes but care deeply about supporting each other's growth.

As an early stage start-up employee, you’ll have the opportunity to build out the future of business trust. We make audit practitioners’ lives easier by eliminating up to 50% of their work and giving them better work-life balance. If you share our values and enthusiasm for building a great culture and product, you will find a home at Fieldguide.

About the Role:

Fieldguide, having successfully partnered with over 40 of the Top 100 US CPA firms in Risk Advisory, has recently launched its latest product: Fieldguide for Financial Audit. Fieldguide for Financial Audit is the first AI-powered End-to-End cloud engagement product on the market. We have an audit methodology-agnostic product approach and, as a result, have established relationships with leading US methodology providers.

We are hiring an Audit Methodology Subject Matter Expert who will manage relationships and integrate methodologies into Fieldguide from both methodology providers, and customers with in-house methodologies. This position will initially be part of the Product team and has the potential to evolve into a dedicated Professional Services team as the company grows. You will be surrounded by peers who are also ex-practitioners and have directly felt the pains we seek to fix, coupled with the best of Silicon Valley’s Product, Engineering and Design talent.

What You’ll Do:

  • Optimizing integration of different audit methodologies into Fieldguide based on current product capabilities.

  • Project managing the smooth transition of industry-specific audit methodology packs onto the Fieldguide platform.

  • Collaborating with the Product team to identify and prioritize new features that enhance support for audit methodologies, improving audit quality and efficiency, and reducing complexity.

  • Working with the AI team to leverage AI to further enhance audit automation throughout the end-to-end audit methodology process carried out in Fieldguide.

  • Coordinating with methodology providers to adapt existing methodology packs where necessary based on platform-specific functionality available in Fieldguide.

  • Assisting onboarding teams in implementing firm-specific methodologies, advising on adaptions needed to optimize for the best experience in the Fieldguide platform.

  • Developing internal systems and processes for managing accounting, audit, and risk engagement methodologies (e.g., Financial audits, Reviews and compilations, SOC2, PCI etc) and the regular updates to the methodologies.

  • Establishing foundations for a marketplace to make methodologies and content widely available, facilitating better distribution and upsell of Fieldguide products.

  • Working with Product Marketing to understand the existing market for methodology in audit products, and how our solution and vision is a step change improvement on that.

About You:

  • Previous experience as a financial auditor, CPA or equivalent qualification.

  • At least 3 years of experience in an audit technical role at an accounting firm with its own methodology or one that heavily adapts an existing provider's methodologies.

  • Confidence to challenge existing methodology providers on approach, and coordinate establishing novel audit methodology approaches.

  • Ability to work independently and quickly in a fast-growing software company.

Preferred Experience:

  • Previous experience as a Subject Matter Expert.

  • Experience working in a software company that develops accounting or auditing technology.
