Overview:

We are looking for an experienced, Staff or Sr. Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) to join the Engineering Operations group. In this role, you'll play a crucial part in improving our observability, modernizing our pipeline delivery, and ensuring the reliability of our systems, all while contributing to our mission of empowering organizations with innovative HR solutions. The position reports to the DevOps Manager, who reports to the VP of Engineering. This is a remote opportunity - must be US based.

The Opportunity:

In this role, you will work closely with technical leads and developers of various teams to implement process improvements in various domains including solution platform automation, source code iteration and improvement, continuous integration, observability instrumentation, and infrastructure as code. You will help design and implement SRE related tools and processes and then transfer knowledge to Engineering teams. 

 

  • Site Reliability Engineering (SRE): Implement and maintain SRE best practices to ensure the reliability, availability, and performance of our systems. 
  • Observability: Enhance our observability stack to provide comprehensive monitoring, logging, and tracing capabilities. Implement tools and practices to improve visibility into system performance and health. 
  • Kubernetes on Azure: Design, deploy, and manage Kubernetes clusters on Azure. Ensure the scalability, security, and reliability of our containerized applications. 
  • Pipeline Automation: Modernize our CI/CD pipeline to improve efficiency, speed, and reliability. Implement automation tools and processes to streamline the software delivery lifecycle. 
  • Collaboration: Work closely with development, QA, and product teams to integrate DevOps best practices into the development process. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and automation. 
  • Incident Management: Lead incident response efforts, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to prevent future incidents. 
  • Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior DevOps engineers, fostering a culture of learning and growth within the team. 

 

Qualifications:
  • Certification or formal training in site reliability engineering concepts and practices 
  • Experience leading SRE teams at scale with demonstrable results with wider experience in training, developing, and retaining talent. 
  • Prior experience of building and managing SLIs, SLOs and observability capabilities at a large scale. 
  • Highly motivated self-starter with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Able to communicate efficiently at all levels of seniority to create change. 
  • 5+ years experience in programming or scripting languages, on large scale systems or SAAS companies 
  • Experience of Kubernetes and container technologies such as Docker and AKS. 
  • Experience in building and leading teams, mentoring junior team members and championing their work. 
  • Ability to work in a matrix environment and partner with virtual teams. 
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage tight deadlines or unexpected changes in expectations or requirements.

Compensation: The pay range for this position is expected to be between $160,000-$190,000/year OTE; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized, non-discriminatory factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions, and equity.
