Job Title: Technical Lead - Java and Microservices

Location: Nashville, TN

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Lead with over 10 years of experience in software development, including a minimum of 3 years in a technical leadership role. This role is based in Nashville and is ideal for an individual who excels in Java development, microservices architecture, and cloud technologies. As a Technical Lead, you will guide our development team, design robust solutions, and drive innovation across our projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and maintenance of Java-based applications, ensuring high performance and reliability.
  • Design and implement microservices architecture, employing best practices in API design and service-oriented principles.
  • Oversee and contribute to the development of Spring Boot applications, leveraging features such as dependency injection, data access, and transaction management.
  • Utilize Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services, including Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), Cloud Functions, Cloud Storage, Cloud Pub/Sub, and Dataflow for deploying and managing applications.
  • Implement and manage distributed messaging and stream processing with Apache Kafka.
  • Apply containerization and orchestration techniques using Docker and Kubernetes to manage and deploy microservices.
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools like Google Cloud Build, Jenkins, or GitLab CI to streamline deployment processes.
  • Ensure high-quality software through automated testing, utilizing frameworks such as JUnit and Mockito.
  • Manage and optimize relational and NoSQL databases, ensuring efficient schema design and query performance.
  • Use version control systems, particularly Git, for code management and collaboration.
  • Ensure robust network security practices and secure APIs and microservices.
  • Implement effective monitoring and logging solutions using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and Stackdriver.

Technical Skills:

  • Java Development: Extensive experience with modern Java versions (e.g., Java 11, Java 17) and proficiency in Java-based application development.
  • Spring Boot: Expertise in building and maintaining microservices with Spring Boot and a strong understanding of Spring Framework features.
  • Microservices Architecture: Proven experience in designing and implementing microservices architecture, API design, RESTful services, and service-oriented architecture.
  • Google Cloud Platform (GCP): Hands-on experience with GCP services and proficiency in deploying and managing applications on GCP.
  • Apache Kafka: Experience with Kafka for distributed messaging and stream processing.
  • Containerization and Orchestration: Proficiency with Docker and Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration.
  • CI/CD Pipelines: Familiarity with CI/CD tools and processes, including Google Cloud Build, Jenkins, or GitLab CI.
  • Automated Testing: Knowledge of automated testing frameworks for Java applications and experience in implementing various types of tests.
  • Database Management: Proficiency in working with relational and NoSQL databases, including schema design and query optimization.
  • Version Control: Expertise in using version control systems, particularly Git.
  • Networking and Security: Understanding of network protocols, security practices, and encryption methods.
  • Monitoring and Logging: Experience with monitoring and logging tools and practices.
