Your missions

Talascend is currently seeking a Design Engineering Program Manager for a remote contract opportunity.

General requirements:


  • Supplier has to update the 3D CAD data with all modifications and optimizations requested in order to reach the expected target from the Customer including technical and technological aspects: all these updates will not have any effect on costs for IG/ER-2; 3D CAD data developed by the Supplier have to consider following aspects:
    • Technological Feasibility: 3D CAD model has to include main tooling and slider direction; molding draft and inside fillets, etc.;
    • Tooling concept: Supplier has to guarantee a feasible tooling concept considering also the minimum thickness of the movable parts and sliders.
    • Quality: 3D CAD model has to guarantee the quality results accordingly to the technological choice with the usage of the engineering design rules to avoid sinkmarks on the visible surface.
    • Assembly and reference points: 3D CAD model has to consider the correct assembly sequence, a proper number of fixing points, tolerance absorption, thermal behaviors of the parts, minimum distance for assembly, cable assembly space, assembly tools package, dismounting and service requirements;
  • It will be developed for this phase just one version of car set.
  • If technical issues raise up during the 3D detailed development, Input for next phase of Design convergence (trough CAD sections, ppt documents) must be generated.
  • Technical open issue have to be always supported by multiple solutions/scenarios to be discussed with Italdesign Project Leader or responsible Team leader;
  • Package and DMU verification has to be guaranteed by the Supplier during the complete development phase;
  • Complete development has to be done considering always the principle of the optimized weight and costs solutions. IG/ER-2 can ask at any time 3D CAD data modification in case of not needed technical solution which effect a cost or weight increase.
  • Parts to be considered in the RfQ: Front and rear side doors: Alu material, partially COP for the components and mechanisms.

Deliverables:

General:

The supplier should:

  • Liaise with customer engineers to agree best practice for technical solutions in line with customer archetypes and where necessary propose alternative Benchmarks for integration either into the products specifically or into customer best practice archive.
  • Create and maintain a concept level pictorial bill of materials (PBOM), including material selections, mass estimates and cost estimates (piece and investment), current vs new.
  • Demonstrate results and present progress against deliverables to support the overall Program timing.
  • Understand, track and report on the costs for Customer Product Cost Estimating, Procurement and Finance to ensure that costing information is entered into the customer Costs Management System for the Commodities that the supplier is responsible.
  • Identify appropriate Risks and Opportunities in a timely manner.
  • Manage Mass and Centre of Gravity (CoG) of components.
  • Identify any Mass reduction Opportunities linked to parts rationalization.

CAD Geometry:

The supplier should:

  • Develop robust design solutions in 3D CAD to meet agreed design targets.
  • All Designs to be completed and compatible with program targets/attributes.
  • Any Attribute incompatibilities will need to be identified with options to resolve.
  • Generate drawings throughout the Project to support the builds and/or Suppliers – 2D drawings are required for all parts.
  • Create model and supply CAD Data for Design in 3DX format, in parametric structure.
  • Software version to be in line with that in use within customer at the time.
  • Exchange data with customer.
  • Create CAD Data model to package with surrounding environment (i.e. Hardpoints, surrounding parts, including worst case tolerances).
  • Design to cost in collaboration and agreement with customer to achieve Value for Money.

Product Structure:

The supplier should:

  • Create CAD models according to customer guidelines.
  • Create Parts models using Model Based Definition techniques including Part Manufacturing Information (PMI) and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T) in line with CAD Data Levels (CDL) requirements.
  • Create 2D drawings according to customer guidelines.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • The candidate has to have at least 5 years of experience in the feasibility study and product development in the side Doors.
  • It is required specific knowledge in the general vehicle layout.
  • It is required deep knowledge of law requirements (minimum radii according ECE R26, side crash impact, ….).
  • It is requested knowledge of Doors performances (such as shaker test, rigidity of parts/assemblies, mounting and dismounting, …) that must be considered in development of 3D Data.
  • It is required knowledge in the design of components and assembly parts in Steel, Aluminum and plastics, with knowledge of molding, thermoforming, fixing concepts and technologies for welding and gluing, assembly tolerances and in general it is required autonomy in product development.
  • It is required knowledge in the use of the CATIA 3DX system at an excellent level for the Engineering of CAD data according to the principles of parametric design.
  • The knowledge of English (minimum level B1) and ability to prepare presentations with Microsoft Power Point.
