About the role.
The Senior Solutions Engineer acts as a pre-sales technical professional to align the customer’s technical challenges with their outcomes. The main focus of this role is to work alongside Account Executives to provide a technical introduction of our solutions to customers. The solutions engineering role provides architectural guidance through understanding our customer's challenges and leading them through proof-of-concept use of Solo solutions.

The Senior Solutions Engineer applies their skills as the in-depth seasoned professional to understand a customer’s technical challenges and help prospects achieve their desired outcomes by building compelling solutions using Solo.io products.
In the sales process, the Solutions Engineer will assist on discovery calls with our sales team to better understand customer challenges related to their cloud migrations, microservices environments, and legacy infrastructure. Solutions Engineers will deliver product presentations, demos, and workshops as needed to the prospect and plan and execute proof-of-concepts to validate Solo.io solutions. Throughout the sales process, the Solutions Engineer will proactively guide customers through architectural challenges and integration of cloud-native platforms, such as Kubernetes, and Solo.io products.
The Solutions Engineer must be viewed as a trusted advisor to customers, sales teams, and product teams. Establishing and maintaining knowledge of the product portfolio, related technologies, and the competitive landscape is a critical component of this role.
The Solutions Engineer must also work with customer success to help customers successfully adopt Solo.io solutions.
In addition to the sales process, the Solutions Engineer must assist in building the sales pipeline by evangelizing Solo.io products and related technology through speaking engagements (conferences, meetups, webinars) and content (blogs, articles, videos).
Job Requirements:
The following key knowledge and skill areas are critical to this role:
- Broad knowledge of cloud, with experience in Kubernetes, across vendor environments, and understanding of the complex landscape of cloud-native applications and infrastructure.
- Working knowledge of Golang, Javascript, Python, Rust, or other modern programming languages.
- Working knowledge of the Linux operating system.
- Solid understanding of modern, cloud-native application architectures.
- Solid understanding of cloud environments and complexities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
