See Yourself as a AVP, Hedging, Pooling & Trading

The AVP, Hedging, Pooling & Trading is responsible for daily monitoring of markets and executing trades to manage the mortgage pipeline interest rate risk. Interact with Wall Street, broker dealers and other investors in the capital markets to implement the Capital Markets business goals of managing risk within guidelines and delivering loans into securities. This role will also perform required activities to Secondary Marketing functions related to post-closing and loan delivery.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities

  • Implement hedging strategy. Assist in hedging the interest rate changes/volatility from lock-in to sale using various capital markets instruments and regularly present risk position to executive management.
  • Partner with the trading team to manage mortgage pipeline position and execute agency and non-agency loan securitization trades. Partner with counterparts to review and price (bid) bulk loan pools for both bulk purchases and securitizations, ensuring all pooling parameters are met.
  • Assist in whole loan trading, maintenance of best execution of pipeline hedging strategies and bulk loan package pricing and trading.
  • Maintain hedging platform functionality and information output; support technology development related to the hedging platform. Contribute to the process of model and technology improvements across various analytic and database tools.
  • Use internal valuation and risk models to assist with analysis.
  • Perform daily trade counterparty reporting, including executing trade margin calls, trade settlement, and wire instructions.
  • Write up market color commentary, position attribution to inform the wider team of changes in the portfolio and market conditions.
  • Run and maintain existing reports to perform daily risk position analysis, pooling, and best execution decisions.
  • Build new reports to support the risk management activities.
  • Develop and build strong relationships with internal and external partners/customers through active engagement.
  • Represent the company at both presentations and one-on-one meetings with external partners/customers
  • Perform other duties as assigned or apparent.

Qualifications

Basic Education and Prior Work-Related Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Experience

Work Experience

  • 6 to 8 years of prior work related experience

Additional Qualifications

  • Knowledge and demonstrated experience in residential mortgage secondary marketing, structured finance, post-closing/loan delivery, and MSR valuation.
  • Awareness of mortgage lending Industry risk management principals and requirements.
  • Working knowledge of current hedging software (QRM, Compass Analytics, etc.).
  • Ability to partner and interact with all levels of staff and management to implement initiatives
  • Strong background in Excel, including ability to summarize data via formulas, lookups, pivot tables, etc.
  • Strong problem solving and analytic skills
  • Excellent verbal and written skills including the ability to communicate sophisticated and technical concepts clearly and professionally
  • Excellent technical skills (including advanced Excel & SQL) with ability to design and maintain complex financial models
  • Ability to prepare and produce quality presentations for executive management and other management level committees
  • Exceptional data analysis skills at a detail level to provide insights, feedback and perspective on operational and financial performance.
