Location: Montreal, QC

Description

The French Translation Senior Specialist will be critical to the ongoing growth of Securian Canada. As an experienced translator you will take ownership of centralized Translation management within the organization, including establishing processes and rolling out bilingual communications organization wide. You will be accountable for creating and editing content and context, including copywriting, English to French (80%), but also French to English (20%). You will be responsible for all company documentation, communications, and adjacent needs such as French RFP writing.

What You Will Do

  • Lead French (Canadian) language and translation efforts at Securian Canada;
  • act as lead translator for company materials from English to French, including presentations, press releases, social media content, employee communications, newsletters, website content, company policies, etc.;
  • stand up inhouse translation center, ensuring French translation compliance and consistency amongst departments;
  • manage third-party network of "overflow" translation vendors – consistently evaluating vendor translation quality and ensuring effective resourcing for organizational needs;
  • establish and maintain standardized lexicon; develop internal terminology bank and style guide, inclusive of product and insurance terminology, to share with external vendors to ensure consistency;
  • coordinate overflow of translation requests between internal stakeholders and external translation vendor(s), as needed;
  • review and revise translations done by external vendors or internal resources to ensure consistency with Securian Canada's terminology, style and tone, as well as quality of French language;
  • write French RFP responses and other French-first/French-only materials.

What You Will Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in translation (Eng-Fr) from a recognized academic institution;
  • certification from a recognized translators' association (OTTIAQ, ATIO, CTINB);
  • minimum seven years translation and revision experience, preferably in the insurance industry or a related field;
  • superior organizational skills along with a scrupulous attention to detail;
  • intellectual curiosity and excellent judgment;
  • excellent computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office software;
  • strong ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
