Stormwater Engineer (Mid/Senior-Level) to work with our growing team on all aspects of design and construction oversight of renewable energy projects throughout the US with a particular focus on the Western US.
Responsibilities
- Provide stormwater engineering analysis and design services for development/conceptual and/or detailed engineering of renewable energy projects across the United States with a focus on the Western US.
- Prepare (or direct preparation of) stormwater engineering reports, studies, modelling, and conceptual designs for permitting and construction of renewable energy projects.
- Review and interpret local, state, provincial, and federal environmental regulations.

- Supervise a team of direct reports.
- Market Tetra Tech's skills and capabilities to new clients to increase group revenue and project portfolio.
- Perform business development and client account management activities including preparing presentations, tracking client opportunities, soliciting client feedback.
- Define stormwater scope and prepare level of effort cost estimates to support and/or lead single discipline proposal development.
- Lead multi-discipline proposal development effort and, if awarded the work, manage the project including working closely with engineering leads, SMEs, and junior staff to prepare and issue deliverables.
- Communicate with clients throughout proposal and project execution.
- Manage projects and track aspects of project performance (scope, schedule, budget, quality).
- Achieve defined goals for revenue, margin (net/gross), and DSO.
- Mentor junior staff.
Qualifications
- B.S. in engineering or related major from an accredited university.
- 7 years+ of relevant work experience in the renewable/traditional energy field or related field.
- Demonstrated strong background in civil/stormwater engineering including site preparation, storm water best management practices, hydraulic and hydrology (H&H) studies, site drainage and grading for renewable energy projects.
- Active E.I.T. status or P.E. license.
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with stormwater engineering software such as AutoCAD, Civil3D, HEC-RAS, Flo2D, etc.
- Leader and team player possessing strong planning and organizational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to conduct effective meetings (internal and external) and written deliverables (proposals, technical reports).
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work on several tasks concurrently.
- Ability to work well with a diverse team including office-based and remote employees.
- Strong knowledge of civil/stormwater engineering principles and practices, construction specifications, procedures, means and methods, and documentation.
- Self-motivated and driven with an entrepreneurial spirit.
- A pre-employment drug screen in compliance with federal regulations is required, along with a physical if needed.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record without restrictions.
Other Desirable Skills And Qualifications
- Demonstrated project management experience.
- Project management certification or specialized training.
- Master’s degree in business, engineering, or closely aligned degree.
- Knowledge of the full life cycle of renewable energy projects from pre-feasibility to decommissioning.
- Experience acting as Owner’s Engineering (OE) and/or Independent Engineering (IE).
- Experience with scheduling software such as Microsoft Project, Tasks by Planner, Smartsheet, etc.
- Experience with construction coordination platforms such as Procore, Construction Cloud, etc.
- NCEES Record with ability to become licensed by reciprocity/comity in other states.
- On-site experience conducting civil engineering walkdowns.
Location:
Position may be fully remote, hybrid, or office based depending on location of applicant relative to local Tetra Tech office. Office locations for this position include (but may not be limited to) Denver/Lakewood, Colorado; Bothell, Washington; Richland, Washington; Albuquerque and Los Alamos, New Mexico; Portland, Oregon; Boise, Idaho; Salt Lake City, Utah; Austin, Texas; Minneapolis, Minnesota; and Irvine, California.
Compensation
Salary commensurate with experience.
$75,000 - $135,000 yr.
Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience and demonstrated work experience in the above role; skills, certifications, and competencies that align to the specified role; geographic location; and education, as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.
