Our Snowflake datalake, the data pipeline and ETL platforms are a critical component of compliance, reporting, counting and billing across Avalara's products. These applications need to provide not only 100% uptime but absolute accuracy of document recording and storage for Avatax, Returns, EU VAT, ORL , Comms etc. The Cloud Data Operations engineers are based in Seattle , Pune , Brazil and EMEA to cover 24x7 support and help engineering teams with troubleshooting, architectural design and performance issues proactively along with addressing new use cases and bugs. Our data pipelines including ETL using Wherescape or similar tools, Attunity, and Snowflake is also set to expand into other Avalara SIG products for all data compliance and reporting aspects.

We are seeking a highly skilled Snowflake Administrator to join our DBE team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing Snowflake Data Warehouse environments, including data security, performance tuning, and troubleshooting. The Snowflake Administrator will play a critical role in ensuring the optimal performance, security, and reliability of our data warehouse solutions.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (4 Years) or Equivalent Engineering Degree.
  • Experience:
    • Proven experience as a Snowflake Administrator or in a similar role.
    • Hands-on experience with Snowflake data warehousing solutions and architecture.
    • Experience with database administration, performance tuning, and security best practices.
  • Skills:
    • Strong understanding of SQL and database concepts.
    • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or Shell for automation.
    • Familiarity with data integration and ETL tools.
    • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
    • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Certifications:
    • Snowflake certification(s) is a plus.
    • Relevant certifications in data warehousing, cloud platforms, or database administration are desirable.

  • Collaboration and Support:
    • Work closely with data architects, developers, and business analysts to understand data requirements and deliver effective solutions.
    • Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to resolve Snowflake-related issues.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support data initiatives and projects.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain detailed documentation of Snowflake configurations, processes, and procedures.
    • Generate regular reports on system performance, security, and usage metrics.
    • Good Knowledge on Postgres, Mongo Atlas, and other RDBMS.
    • Write Iaac using Terraform, etc.
    • Build CICD Pipeline and other Automation.
    • Good knowledge on AWS and GCP Cloud.
