Job Description:
A national commercial and residential title insurance agency is providing unparalleled service to clients across the real estate spectrum. Responsibilities:

  • Examine the chain of title primarily for commercial/industrial properties.
  • Perform title examination of complex title orders requiring a high level of title expertise.
  • Analyze records such as leases, subleases, acreage, liens, judgments, easements, vital statistics, and plot and map books. Determine ownership and legal restrictions and verify the legal description of property and completeness of records for examinations, including multi-site properties.
  • Write title products based on the interpretation and application of procedural guidelines.
  • Provide underwriting interpretation within established guidelines.
  • Prepare proforma owner and loan policies and endorsements and work closely with the parties and the underwriters to finalize and obtain approvals.
  • Review documents, such as deeds, mortgages, and subordinations, for recordability.
  • Review closing and title documents, including Contracts, Deeds, Mortgages, Subordinations, Organizational Documents, Surveys, Zoning Reports, Easements, Covenants and Restrictions, title comment/objection letters, and other documents to clear title for the issuance of a title policy.
  • Prepare Closing Protection Letters.
  • Order any necessary title, tax, or lien searches prior to closing.
  • Obtain HiLi approval from the underwriter, if necessary.
  • Review, track, and record closing documents.
  • For multi-site transactions, produce lien charts and work closely with underwriters.
  • Create and maintain a closing checklist for each file.
  • Make sure all information is kept current in each file in SoftPro and save all documentation in the appropriate folders, using the correct naming conventions.
  • Interact effectively and professionally with all levels of management, team members, and customers by email, phone, and in person.

Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; high school degree required.
  • 6+ years of strong working knowledge of commercial/residential real estate and title.
  • Ability to perform underwriting functions on a national level.
  • Must be proficient in Excel, Word, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and able to learn new platforms.
  • Knowledge of title software (SoftPro) is a bonus but not required.
  • Ability to multi-task and operate in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail, diligence, and superior organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
