About the Role

As a JavaScript Backend Developer, you will be reporting to the Australian-based Head of Development and you will drive the migration, development, and enhancement of our cloud-native applications. Your role will involve close collaboration with producers, frontend developers, and designers to ensure smooth integration between backend and frontend systems. 

You will be responsible for integrating various systems to optimize and enrich the user experience, ultimately contributing to the overall effectiveness and efficiency of our client-facing solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain server-side features using JavaScript/TypeScript (Node and V8).
• Collaborate with front-end developers to integrate backend functionality with front-end features.
• Communicate with cross-functional team members from producers, developers, business analysts, and designers via multiple modes such as Slack, ticket comments, video calls, etc.
• Communicate technical information to clients and answer their technical questions through ticket comments and, occasionally, in producer-led meetings.
• Engage in API-based development (REST, SOAP, GraphQL).
• Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code that adheres to best practices and team guidelines.
• Conduct code reviews and uphold code quality standards.
• Adhere to the company processes and values in all aspects of your work.

Position Prerequisites

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in JavaScript, TypeScript, and Node.js development.
• Experience with relational databases such as MariaDB, MySQL, or PostgreSQL.
• Familiarity with Git.
• Knowledgeable with JavaScript / TypeScript / Node.js / Chrome V8.
• Experience with GraphQL.
• Familiarity with AWS / Cloudflare and Containerisation (Docker).
• Proficient with Project Management Systems (JIRA, ClickUp, Trello).

Skills

• Excellent problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
