Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW

  • The role of the Ulta Planner is Full Time and involves strategic planning, forecasting, and analysis of the Ulta Beauty & Fragrance business.
  • Overview of the key responsibilities associated with this role:
    • Sales Forecasting: Utilize historical sales data, market trends, and other relevant factors to forecast future sales for beauty products or categories.
    • Inventory Management: Develop inventory strategies to optimize stock levels, minimize excess inventory, and ensure adequate product availability to meet customer demand.
    • Assortment Planning: Collaborate with merchandising teams to determine the appropriate mix of products to offer based on customer preferences, market trends, and sales data.
    • Forecast Accuracy: Evaluate forecast accuracy and adjust as needed to ensure alignment with actual sales performance and inventory levels.
    • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including merchandising, marketing, operations, to align business goals and strategies and drive cohesive execution.
    • Reporting and Communication: Prepare regular reports summarizing key insights, performance metrics, and recommendations.
    • New Product Introductions: Collaborate with sales and marketing teams on product information and allocations of new launch products, including assortment selection, pricing, and promotional strategies.
  • Service and Communication with Sales Force
  • Communicate to the field on all launches, marketing, merchandising, shipping details
  • Field: answer any shipping, marketing, and retailer-related questions.
  • Maintain all summaries of the following:  space and location including planograms for fragrance, beauty merchandising designation, opening dates, promotional changes, and event results.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and maintain sales plans by category
  • Review and analyze sales performance on a weekly basis by completing a weekly retail sales recap
  • Review and update the weekly sales projection and Side by Side w/Key Account Director via Key Account Management File
  • Update the YTG Sales tracker for AE Beauty Doors load into Simplifield
  • Keep the Mix of Business up to date with relevant information.
  • Consistently review sales reports and operational updates on the Ulta portal
  • Review files or documents related to product assortments and sales performance. Create reporting/tracking for by door productivity tiers…
  • Compare sales information between the two systems of Ulta Portal vs. Dior BI
  • Review weekly order reports for replenishment and all orders for release and ship deadlines. Manage replenishment processes, review inventory levels, and release orders as needed. Update the purchase order (PO) log with relevant information. Perform daily checks or tasks related to purchase orders managed by CS.
  • Generate and review reports related to items that have cut from inventory, and work to rebook
  • Manage shipment files and track net shipments and returns.
  • Manage files or tasks related to forecast activities : stock analysis review, summarize findings,  update and review with cross functional teams to secure stock needed
  • Secure Retailer FC communication to teams to ensure availability, and manage tasks or activities related to new product launches. Generate and review allocation reports
  • Set up tasks related to Ulta new items: PIM system. Work with cross functional teams to complete
  • Manage tasks or activities related to launches, visual merchandising, and quarterly planning.
  • Correspond with Ulta IA weekly regarding stock and discontinued items
  • Updating promotional calendars, liaising with trade marketing to ensure business needs are communicated and allocations support
  • Track and monitor rankings of products or categories
  • Track and monitor Ulta promotional activities and their effectiveness
  • Maintain Ulta Door Report and compare them to internal data for accuracy
  • Manage tasks or activities related to Simplifield

Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience with planning and execution of retail events and programs to drive sell-through and sell-in; Ulta Beauty retailer experience preferred
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of leading beauty and fragrance brands
  • Strong relationship building skills
  • Heightened sense of urgency
  • Deadline oriented, strong organizational skills
  • Strong understanding of merchandising to sales
  • Knowledge of and passion for Dior brand required
  • Travel required per business needs
