Your missions

Sage Therapeutics is searching for a creative, resourceful, collaborative, and integrative thinker for an important role that is responsible for driving Sage’s Commercial reporting capabilities. Working closely with a variety of internal stakeholders, the Associate Director, Data & Reporting will integrate data from multiple sources to produce required data elements. The Associate Director will use data visualization programs, tools, and techniques to generate dashboards, reports, and other end-user information portals or resources.

Roles and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

  • Responsible for partnering with a variety of stakeholders (Insights, Analytics, DEC, Program team, advanced analytics & forecasting) to build business insights and assure the validity and quality of the analyses.
  • Comprehend business needs and objectives to respond to data and reporting inquiries from various internal clients and stakeholders.
  • Create, produce, and maintain customized dashboards that leverage visual analytics and data storytelling to inform and improve strategic decisions.
  • Develop strategies for effective data analysis and reporting.
  • Determine objectives and approaches to reporting assignments; generate ad hoc reports and regular datasets, models, charts, graphs, decks, or report information for end-users using system tools and database or data warehouse queries and scripts.
  • Develop and support Reporting team ensuring efficient operation of the function.
  • Define company-wide metrics and relevant data sources; select, configure, and implement analytics reporting solutions.
  • Oversee all reporting solutions, correct discrepancies, and ensure quality.
  • Extract reports from multiple sources (e.g., analytics, DEC, customer feedback).
  • Apply industry knowledge to interpret data and improve performance.
  • Keep abreast of industry news and trends

Experience, Education and Specialized Knowledge and Skills

Must thrive working in a fast-paced, innovative environment while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient. Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to develop important relationships with key stakeholders, ability to identify issues and raise to key stakeholders to develop relevant and realistic plans, programs and recommendations.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 6+ years of experience in data science, data analysis or data management with familiarity of big data, analytics, and data mining environments in a pharmaceutical/biotech company or consulting firm.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD strongly preferred
  • Experience with a data visualization tools e.g., Spotfire, Tableau, etc.
  • A good understanding of pharma data, deliverables, and business processes.
  • Clear understanding of IQVIA/Symphony data, SP data, its sources, and how it is used in tracking delivery of medicines to the market.
  • Proven delivery track record in reporting role; knowledge of competitive or state-of-the-art analytic and reporting services used in the biotech industry.
  • Proficiency in relational database architecture and the ability to perform advanced queries from multiple data sources.
  • An understanding of business functions and interrelationships between data processes as needed to transform data into meaningful intelligence using business intelligence tools.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to timely delivery.
  • Superior knowledge and experience in Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and other data analytics frameworks/tools.
  • Ability to work independently and in close partnership with a team of peers and stakeholders; ability to partner with and support other functions.
  • Strong experience in metrics, reporting, dash-boarding, and analytics technologies.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
