Job Description:

Blizzard Entertainment is looking for an Assistant Lead Rewards Designer for the World of Warcraft (WoW) team whose primary role will be to lead the team that designs the exciting equipment, treasures, mounts, and toys that players love to seek out and collect.

Are you excited by the idea of supporting a team of passionate and talented designers as they work towards creating in-game player rewards that are familiar, yet creative and exciting?  Do you prioritize strong, collaborative relationships both within your teams and with partner teams to deliver amazing results? This role is anticipated to be a hybrid work position, with some work on-site and some work-from-home. The potential home studio for this role is Irvine, California.

Responsibilities

  • Work with your team to guide the player through the game by making the most fun activities the most rewarding activities.
  • Mentor team members through creating and iterating designs, and on implementation best practices.
  • Collaborate with WoW’s other discipline teams to create a cohesive game experience.
  • Partner with QA and production to plan, implement, document, and test features.
  • Champion work/life balance for the rewards team.
  • Serve as an active partner in the design team’s leadership group.
  • Promote, contribute to, and participate in our culture of inclusion and diversity.

Minimum Requirements

  • 5+ years in game design preferably on a AAA title
  • 2+ years mentoring or managing teams
  • A desire to improve the designs and further the careers of those around you through feedback and coaching.
  • The ability to effectively communicate in both written and verbal format.
  • The ability to take on a 10,000-foot level perspective on how game systems interconnect.
  • The ability to consider feedback from multiple conflicting viewpoints and provide design guidelines for teammates to make the best overall decision.

Knowledge and Skills

  • A love for World of Warcraft and its universe.
  • Historical knowledge of World of Warcraft’s endgame systems.
  • Experience with number-crunching tools like Excel and diagramming tools like Visio.

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $80,800.00 - $149,400.00 Annual. These values reflect the expected base pay range of new hires across all U.S. locations. Ultimately, your specific range and offer will be based on several factors, including relevant experience, performance, and work location. Your Talent Professional can share this role’s range details for your local geography during the hiring process. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed. While we strive to provide competitive offers to successful candidates, new hire compensation is negotiable.
