Job Description
Position Overview:
The Mold Operations Specialist will be responsible for managing mold stock transfer orders (STO’s), coordinating the introduction of new molds into production, and handling the disposition of obsolete molds. This role requires effective collaboration with commercial, production, engineering, accounting, legal, procurement, and quality teams to ensure smooth mold operations and inventory control. The Mold Operations Specialist will focus on optimizing mold utilization, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring timely and efficient mold-related activities.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
Mold STO Management: Execute and track mold stock transfer orders (STOs) to ensure accurate and timely movement of molds between facilities.
New Mold Introduction: Assist in coordinating the introduction of new molds into production, working with engineering and production teams to ensure successful trials and validations.
Obsolete Mold Disposition: Handle the process of identifying and disposing of obsolete molds, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with company policy. Onsite verification of obsolete mold inventory is a necessity.
Inventory Control: Maintain accurate records of mold inventory and mold component spares, including location, condition, and usage history, using inventory management systems.
Vendor Coordination: Work with external vendors and suppliers to coordinate mold repairs, modifications, and new mold acquisitions.
Cost Monitoring: Monitor costs associated with mold maintenance, repairs, and procurement, and assist in identifying cost-saving opportunities.
Compliance: Ensure all mold management activities comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies.
Process Improvement: Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance mold management efficiency and effectiveness.
Reporting: Generate regular reports on mold status, usage, and inventory for internal review.
Skills:
Technical Knowledge: Basic understanding of mold design, manufacturing processes, and maintenance practices.
Organization Skills: Strong organizational skills to manage mold inventory and ensure timely execution of STOs and dispositions.
Problem-Solving: Good problem-solving abilities to address issues related to mold performance and inventory management.
Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with internal teams and external vendors.
Analytic Skills: Ability to analyze data and generate insights for process improvements and decision-making.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's Degree In Operations, Engineering or related field.
2-5 years’ experience of experience in manufacturing, mold management or related field
Familiarity with mold design and manufacturing software, inventory management systems, and ERP systems is a plus
Competency in Microsoft Office products; experience with inventory management software and ERP systems preferred
Travel up to 50%
