As Corporate Development Associate, you will be part of the broader Enterprise Strategy & Corporate Development team, which is responsible for driving enterprise strategy and planning, developing inorganic strategic theses, and identifying, sourcing, and leading M&A, venture and other enterprise and business partnerships, as well as managing and optimizing these transactions and relationships. While you will focus primarily on corporate development, the team works as one team, and you will have the opportunity to lean in and help shape a wide range of strategic topics for Guardian.
You will
You will identify, structure, manage, and deliver high-visibility corporate projects aligned with the following areas of responsibility:
- Strategy Development – Work collaboratively and cross-functionally to identify and analyze possible acquisitions, divestitures, investments and joint-ventures to drive recommendations and to project financial impact on the Company's portfolio and capabilities, including drafting comprehensive investment memorandums to recommend transactions and concise documents and communications for senior management.
- External Trends and Insights – Leverage industry reports, data sources, and conferences to stay abreast of general M&A industry trends and bring that external thinking into Guardian’s strategy. Highlight case studies of relevant transactions and implications for Guardian.
- Transaction Execution – Analyze / value businesses and build financial models, including but not limited to three statement operating models, public company and precedent transaction comparables, DCFs, return sensitivity analyses. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support transaction due diligence and post-closing integration.
- Monitoring & Optimization – Oversee partnerships sourced from M&A activity as an extension of our corporate strategy. Identify key value drivers, surface issues and partner with business areas to ensure partnerships are delivering financial and strategic value to Guardian.
You have
- Undergraduate degree from a top-tier university with exceptional academic achievement.
- 4 to 7 years of relevant post-undergraduate experience in investment banking, private equity or corporate development.
- Excellent analytical and modeling capabilities with solid understanding of basic accounting and corporate finance principles.
- Effective communication skills, including strong writing abilities and the ability to create high-quality presentations and materials.
- Outstanding attitude and work ethic, with the maturity to operate both independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, CapitalIQ, FactSet and other financial platforms.
- Familiarity with the financial services industry, including banks, insurance carriers and distributors, asset and wealth managers, broker-dealers and financial technology companies is a plus.
Location
This is a hybrid position requiring 3 days a week in Guardian’s Hudson Yards, NY office.
Salary Range
$91,260.00 - $149,925.00
The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate. In addition to salary, this role may also be eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.
