Gannett Fleming’s Power business continues to expand which translates into significant professional opportunities for experienced Sr. Transmission Line Engineers to play a significant role in our continued growth! This is a remote position.
As a Sr Transmission Line Engineer you will lead and oversee transmission line project designs. As a subject matter expert in T Lines, you will be expected to understand the complexity of the electrical transmission line design process. In addition, you’ll to lead project discussions with clients and project staff, while providing strategic input to the Gannett Fleming Power leadership team. Your success will be influenced by your commitment and passion to provide innovative solutions to our clients, while coaching the existing team to expand their knowledge and capabilities with the mission to deliver excellence as promised.
Responsibilities:
- Design transmission line segments using PLS-CADD or other structural design software package.
- Prepare design criteria documents and construction specifications.
- Prepare construction packages including structure details, material lists, staking tables, plan and profiles, and stringing charts.
- Estimate costs, resources, labor, and materials needed for projects and establish completion dates/deadlines.
- Write, modify, and review specifications based on NESC, IEEE, and NEC requirements and utility based best practice.
- Prepare feasibility studies, routing studies, EMF calculations.
- Oversee project implementation, including verification of foundations, structures, and equipment installation.
- Lead or assist with proposal preparation and other business development activities.
- Traveling and visiting client sites during project definition and execution
- Mentoring and coaching of less experienced engineers and technicians.

Minimum Qualifications
- B.S. in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Structural Engineering from an accredited college or university
- 7 plus years of experience with transmission design
- Detailed knowledge of NESC, IEEE, and other applicable code/standards related to transmission line design.
- High level of proficiency with PLS-CADD
- Electrical utility or utility consulting experience is strongly preferred
- Strong technical writing and verbal communications skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Registered Professional Engineer
- Experience using RISA-3D and/or STADD for structural analysis and design
- Functional understanding of AISC, ACI 318, ASCE 7, ASCE 10, ASCE 48, EIA-TIA 222, CSA, and GO95
