Following our agreement with Roche to acquire the Vacaville manufacturing facility, we are now looking to recruit an Asset Finance Lead for the Vacaville site!

The Asset Finance Lead for the Vacaville site performs a critical role in the financial control and analysis for one of the largest and most strategic assets in the Lonza network.

The role is primarily responsible for the financial control, planning and analysis of the asset P&L. It is responsible for planning and reporting all key P&L and Balance Sheet metrics: Sales, COGs, Variances, Primary Costs, FTES, CAPEX, Inventory, Deferred Revenue etc.

In addition, the role is responsible to support the site Finance Head to ensure proper flow of communication and coordination between Operations and BU/Division business partners.

The role is responsible for all financial matters of a Business Area within the Vacaville site.

Key Responsibilities:

Business Partnering:

  • Business partner to Asset Head and Site Leadership team: Overall direction and coordination, relative to the reporting of monthly financial data and the development and submission of the Asset Financial & Business Plans.

  • Support local Program Management (PM) team to ensure clarity and compliance of monthly revenue recognition 

  • Closely collaborates with key site and non-site stakeholders (business unit, global Ops, site functions and others)

  • Liaise with the SCM Head on site inventory related topics

  • Return-on-Investment analysis for Business Area / Asset CAPEX projects. Supporting local and Global CAPEX projects and ensuring compliance with Lonza processes and controls.

Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • Reporting of monthly financial performance of Business Area / Asset vs plan

  • Review and sign off of material revenue items accordance with IFRS15

  • Lead local planning processes for Business Area / Asset: monthly forecasts and outlooks, Target, Strategic Reviews.

  • Monitor status of Shared Service Centre reconciliations and reconciling items which could impact of future results 

  • Risks and Ops reporting vs Latest Outlook

Process Excellence

  • Support the Site Finance Head in the financial integration of the site into the Lonza systems and network

  • Liaise with the Operational Excellence head to drive the productivity agenda for Business Area / Asset

  • Review and standardize business processes on site ensuring transparency, consistency and best practice sharing in all aspects of costing, planning, reporting etc…

  • Support process and systems improvement projects (SAP enhancements, new process and tools introductions etc.) together with Operations and BU Finance, local and global supply chain group, corporate accounting and global operations

Compliance:

  • Ensure financial compliance in accordance with IFRS, the Lonza Finance Accounting Manual (FAM), the Lonza Management Accounting Manual (MAM) and other required accounting principles

  • Support the evaluation and implementation of site internal financial controls (ICS), especially those related to their dedicated business area / asset.

  • Supports all compliance activities across the sites.

People & Development:

  • Supports the development of the site finance team

  • Proactively shares best practice within the site team, and above the site

  • Ensures business continuity of key finance tasks

  • Acts as the backup for the site Finance Head and represents the site Finance function in all key local and global forums as required.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree/MBA in Finance, Controlling, and/or Accounting

  • Advanced experience in Finance and Controlling

  • Highly adapt at working cross functionally at Site Leadership level and communicating on a regular basis with non-finance stakeholders.

  • Bias towards action and delivery of business area / asset results – full ownership of P&L.

  • Highly analytical, highly organized, good communication skills, team-oriented and at ease with ambiguity, cross-functional agility, proactively in search for best practice, ability to prioritize and deliver high quality work to tight deadlines

  • Good knowledge / Expertise of SAP financial modules

  • Experience of working with notions such as Standards/Variances, Absorption and Material Ledger in an industrial context

  • Can extract, manipulate large sets of data in Excel Pivot Tables, and translate into powerful, relevant and straight to the point graphs and presentations using Powerpoint / Thinkcell

  • Attention to detail and ability to ensure accurate and reliable reporting in a complex and dynamic environment.

  • Travel is moderate <50%

This position is contingent upon Lonza’s successful completion of the acquisition of the site located in Vacaville, California (the “Closing”), currently anticipated to occur in H2, 2024.  If the Closing is delayed for any reason, Lonza may delay the start date up to sixty (60) days.

The full-time base annual salary for this position is expected to range between $168,300.00 and $196,350.00. Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including the successful candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, and job-related knowledge.
