Varian Strategy & Business Development’s Associate role is ideally suited for individuals who have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience. As an integral member of the team, you will have access to training, mentorship, and opportunities that will prepare you for the next level.

As an Associate in Varian’s Strategy and Business Development team, you will be a key player in developing and executing on our growth strategy. You will participate in the full, end-to-end transaction process, including building complex financial models, analyzing market data, and preparing executive level presentations to help shape Varian’s future corporate and inorganic growth strategy. While specific deliverables will vary according to project objectives, you have a breadth and depth of capabilities needed to tackle a wide variety of strategy and investment initiatives. Your strategic mindset, strong critical thinking skills, and comfort with ambiguity are the foundation for your professional growth and career advancement at Varian.

Role:

· Develop understanding of the broader healthcare and oncology landscape, including diagnostics, therapeutics, assets in development, and healthcare systems across the globe

· Conduct comprehensive financial analysis and due diligence on potential inorganic transactions, including financial modeling, valuation analysis, and scenario planning

· Perform comprehensive and in-depth industry research and develop competitive intelligence to help inform strategic fit

· Synthesize multiple information sources (primary, secondary, and analytical research) to communicate insights to team

· Craft high quality memos, presentations, and pitches clearly articulating the strategic rationale and financial impact of proposed transactions

· Ability to work cross-functionally to manage project and team processes including due diligence investigations, opportunity pipeline management, business development meeting coordination, and scientific conference coverage

Desired Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree (MBA preferred but not required)

· Prior work experience in a Strategy, Corporate Development, Private Equity, Investment Banking, or Strategic FP&A role is required

· Prior experience conducting financial due diligence, building financial models, business valuations, and transaction support is strongly preferred

· Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills required

· Exceptional quantitative, writing, and interpersonal skills

· Strong project management skills and ability to influence without authority

· Ability to prioritize and focus time effectively to meet multiple project objectives

The base pay range for this position is

Min $118,300 - Max $213,100

The pay wage range shown is based on the job posting's primary location. Actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors, including but not limited to skill set, experience, certifications, and location.
