Your missions

The Data Engineering organization at GEICO is looking for an experienced, highly motivated senior engineer to provide a friction-less experience to our customers and maintain the highest standards of data engineering excellence.

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will:

  • Design and build high-quality scalable and resilient data solutions

  • Build understanding of business requirements and leverage your technical skills to drive towards the right solution

  • Engage in cross-functional collaboration throughout the entire software lifecycle

  • Build world class reporting platform to satisfy reporting needs

  • Lead in design sessions and code reviews to elevate the quality of engineering across the organization

  • Mentor other engineers

  • Consistently share best practices and improve processes within and across teams

Qualifications

  • Advanced programming and development experience within Python, DBT, GIT and GIT lifestyle, Kafka, Spark, PowerBI

  • Experience with CI/CD process and tools

  • Advanced understanding of monitoring concepts and experience with monitoring tools such as Dynatrace, Thousand Eyes, Influx, Grafana or equivalents

  • Strong understanding of big data, Datawarehouse, as well as OLAP architecture and solutions

  • Experience in developing data models and data transformation designs for different layers of a Datawarehouse

  • Advanced understanding of DevOps concepts including Azure DevOps framework and tools

  • Advanced understanding of security protocols and products as well as sensitivity to securing customer data

  • In-depth knowledge of data structures and algorithms

  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills

  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment

  • Knowledge of developer tooling across the software development life cycle (task management, source code, building, deployment, operations, real-time communication)

Experience

  • 4+ years of professional experience in data software development, programming languages and developing with big data technologies

  • 3+ years of experience with architecture and design

  • 3+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service

  • 2+ years of experience in Big-data tools like Spark, Databricks, Open Source data technologies


 

Annual Salary

$90,000.00 - $185,000.00

The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
