The Team

Upstart’s Marketplace Lending Platform is largely funded by institutional investors. Upstart’s Capital Markets team is charged with expanding the company’s reach across the institutional world. We structure and execute deals across forward flow, asset sales, securitizations, and warehouse / term financing. The Structured Products team within Capital Markets oversees Upstart’s securitization and financing programs. Upstart has been an active issuer in the asset-backed securities (“ABS”) markets since 2017 with over $9 billion in aggregate issuance to date. 

As the Senior Manager of Capital Markets, Structured Products at Upstart, you will lead the development of Upstart’s securitization and warehouse programs. You have a strong track record within structured finance and are energized by building relationships across Capital Markets participants. This is a high visibility role and opportunity to build a best-in-class Structured Products Function at a well-established and high-growth fintech. 

How you’ll make an impact

  • Develop strategy for Upstart’s securitization issuance plan and asset-backed financings
  • Drive structural improvements / efficiencies of existing asset-backed and pass-thru programs 
  • Manage third party relationships (e.g. investment banks, rating agencies, auditors, and investors)
  • Partner with cross functional team members to navigate downstream implications of deal work
  • Coach and mentor other team members, including direct reports

Minimum Qualifications 

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in Capital Markets - Structured Finance or Structured Products 
  • Strong track record of team-building and ability to collaborate effectively across a growing organization 
  • Experience managing institutional investor relationships
  • Familiarity with financing term sheets and deal transaction documents 
  • Level-headed and adaptable within a dynamic, fast-paced environment 

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or capital markets related certification is a plus
  • Experience with marketplace or personal unsecured sector 

 

Position location This role is available in the following locations: Remote

Time zone requirements The team operates on the East/West coast time zones.

Travel requirements As a digital first company, the majority of your work can be accomplished remotely. The majority of our employees can live and work anywhere in the U.S but are encouraged to to still spend high quality time in-person collaborating via regular onsites. The in-person sessions’ cadence varies depending on the team and role.

At Upstart, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package.  The anticipated base salary for this position is expected to be within the below range. Your actual base pay will depend on your geographic location–with our “digital first” philosophy, Upstart uses compensation regions that vary depending on location. Individual pay is also determined by job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

In addition, Upstart provides employees with target bonuses, equity compensation, and generous benefits packages (including medical, dental, vision, and 401k).
