Job Description:


Key Responsibilities
:

Catastrophe Management:

  • Run models to quantify the likelihood and severity of natural catastrophes.
  • Process and interpret client exposure data for use in catastrophe models within the insurance sector.
  • Conduct sensitivity testing and provide event-response insights to insurance clients.
  • Collaborate with academic and industry partners to innovate solutions specific to insurance needs.

Catastrophe Cyber:

  • Work with insurance-specific cyber datasets and risk models.
  • Develop and maintain global datasets and analytics offerings tailored for the insurance industry.
  • Evaluate and validate cyber models for insurance applications.
  • Manage client relationships and contribute to research efforts in insurance cyber risks.

Catastrophe Evaluation/Research:

  • Provide up-to-date information on natural catastrophes relevant to the insurance industry.
  • Evaluate and validate catastrophe models used by insurers.
  • Test model sensitivities and validate components using third-party data within an insurance context.
  • Analyze claims experience and quantify climate change impacts on insurance portfolios.

Requirements:

  • Experience: 1-3 years in data visualisation, business analysis, or catastrophe modelling within the insurance industry is essential. Prior experience in natural perils or running catastrophe models for insurance companies is required.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong logical thinking and problem-solving abilities, specifically in an insurance context.
  • Attention to Detail: High attention to detail in data processing and analysis relevant to insurance.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex insurance-related ideas for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Self-Starter: Initiative to work independently and collaboratively within the insurance industry.
  • Commercial Awareness: Ability to understand and support insurance clients with clarity and confidence.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in programming (Python or R) is desirable, especially in applications related to insurance modelling.
  • Project Management: Demonstrated ability to manage projects and coordinate activities across multiple departments within insurance organisations.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills. Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders in the insurance field.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience in insurance.
