Sr. Business Analyst

Scope of Position

The Business Analyst will shepherd projects from the Elaboration Phase through the Construction Phase of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).  In the Elaboration Phase of the SDLC the Business Analyst will ensure all project requirements are documented and approved.  In the Construction Phase the BA will ensure requirements are understood and being met by the development team. This role work will support the company in accomplishing critical business goals.

Job Summary

This role is responsible for collaborating with stakeholders to gather and analyze business requirements, identify opportunities for process improvement, and help drive the successful delivery of projects in an agile environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Work closely with product owners, developers, and other team members to understand project objectives and business requirements
• Manage the requirements gathering sessions for client and internal projects
• Analyze data and processes to identify areas for improvement and recommend solutions
• Develop user stories, acceptance criteria, and other documentation to support the development and testing of features
• Participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and other scrum ceremonies to ensure project delivery meets business objectives
• Perform scrum master duties as needed
• Lead the root cause analysis and resolutions for complex business problems
• Facilitate and manage testing for larger projects
• Effectively and efficiently use Jira and Confluence as well as all applications in the Microsoft Office Suite to create and deliver documents, especially Microsoft Word, Excel, and Visio
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior business analysts on the team

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Technology or equivalent work experience required
• 7+ years of experience as a business analyst, preferably in an agile environment
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience working with scrum or other agile methodologies
• Certification in business analysis or agile practices is a plus
• Strong meeting facilitation skills
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a larger team
• Outstanding organizational skills
• Qualified candidates are expected to be proficient with Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Visio
