Job Summary/Objective: 

The Law Intern will report to and provide support to the Company’s General Counsel and Corporate Secertary in various aspects of corporate matters, legal research, documentation, and legal administration.  To be considered for this position, all candidates must have a member of the United States military and have a Military Occupation Specialty (MOS)related to the legal field and 2 or more years of relevant experience. This internship offers hands-on -in-house legal experience and the opportunity to work on real- legal matters in the context of a corporation.  This is a good opportunity to gain valuable legal experience not only in the Government contracting sector, but in the technology commercial sector as the Company has commercial product and services offerings as well.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct legal research on various topics and provide summaries and analysis as directed by the General Counsel.
  • Assist in drafting templates and updating standard legal documents for the Company, including contracts, briefs, policies, memos, and other correspondence to facilitate not only legal compliance but business strategy needs.
  • Assist the General Counsel on reviewing and analyzing contracts to identify key terms and potential risks.
  • Assist General Counsel on developing training for the Company’s contracts department.
  • Attend meetings as requested.
  • Assist General counsel with corporate maintenance of Company entities and assist General Counsel with preparing for Shareholder and Board of Director meetings. 
  • Assist General Counsel with Intellectual Property matters and filings in support of the Company’s offerings. 
  • Provide general support to the General Counsel as needed.

 

Requirements

  •  Must have a Military Occupation Speciality(MOS)related to the legal field and 2 or more years of relevant experience.
  • In lieu of MOS, must have 12 or more months of relevant experience of working in the legal field.
  • Previous experience assisting Judge Advocates, Military lawyers and Unit Commanders in a wide variety of legal areas and expertise.
  • Strong academic record with a demonstrated interest in law.
  • Excellent research, writing, analytical and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word and PowerPoint).
  • Excellent time management.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited law school program
  • Enjoys research and familiarity with free legal research tools.
  • Taking classes on and/or familiarity and/or interest in various areas of law, such as corporate law, intellectual property, and contracts (both in the Government contracting sector and the commercial sector).
