In this exceptional leadership opportunity, we are seeking a Director of Engineering, Platform to lead our platform/infrastructure that empowers all our software applications and systems. eHealth engineering systems has been undergoing a big modernization effort where utilizing the latest technologies and systems in its platform is crucial to its success.

As we are embarking on this transformation, this role will partner with product development and security teams to introduce and build a best-in-class platform covering cloud computing, CI/CD and observability areas. You will have a lot of opportunities to influence software engineering teams with your vision and expertise in building platforms that support those teams. If you're a results-oriented, technically confident leader who enjoys working with a lot of freedom, but knows how to take full ownership, collaborate with cross-functional teams and execute with quality, then this is the role you’ve been looking for.

The new technologies in infrastructure/platform such as highly available cloud computing infrastructure, zero-trust systems, Infrastructure as a Code, distributed tracing, APM increases productivity of software development teams as well as minimizing downtimes or performance degradation. You will lead multiple platform engineering teams and have a significant impact within our company.

What you will do:

  • Lead the vision, strategy and execution of platform engineering in partnership with product engineering and security leadership.
  • Define a strategic engineering vision to build a highly scalable, resilient and secure platform that empowers software applications and services.
  • Lead technical strategy and drive innovation to ensure eHealth’s platform continues to deliver best-in-class experience.
  • Grow and expand your team by hiring great talent, mentoring team members and improving engineering quality, productivity and performance.
  • Instill an inclusive team culture that is passionate, empathetic, and collaborative.
  • Build operational excellence to achieve goals across all platforms supporting software engineering.

What you will bring:

  • 10 years+ in engineering with experience in cloud computing (AWS), observability, and CI/CD.
  • 7+ years of experience in a significant leadership position.
  • Strong leader who has managed, hired and grown engineering teams across multiple geographic locations.
  • Extensive knowledge of AWS services, cloud architecture, and infrastructure as code (IaC) tools.
  • Strong expertise in observability tools and practices, including monitoring, logging, and tracing.
  • Deep understanding of CI/CD pipelines, automation, and related best practices.

This role is 100% remote, person must be based in the US and available to work standard Pacific Time business hours.

The base pay range reflects the anticipated pay range for this position. The actual base pay offered will depend on various factors including individual skills, experience, performance, qualifications, the department budget, and the location where work is performed. Base pay is one component of eHealth’s total rewards package, which also includes an annual performance bonus, plus an array of benefits designed to support employees’ personal and professional wellness.
