Summary/Overview:

KBRA (KBRA Holdings) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Platform Engineer - Associate Director to lead our Platform team in building and maintaining robust, scalable, and innovative platforms that power our products and services. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software engineering, leadership experience, and a passion for driving technical excellence and innovation.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Leadership: Provide strong technical leadership and mentorship to a team of five (5) platform engineers. Set clear goals and objectives and empower the team to achieve them.
  • Platform Strategy: Develop and execute a strategic roadmap for platform engineering initiatives, aligning with business goals/objectives and our philosophy of automating everything and provisioning Infrastructure as Code. Drive continuous improvement and innovation in platform architecture and technologies.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with Engineering Leadership, Infrastructure teams, and the engineering teams themselves to ensure alignment and integration of platform initiatives with overall product and technical strategies.
  • Team Development: Recruit, onboard, and develop top engineering talent. Foster a culture of learning, collaboration, and professional growth within the platform engineering team.
  • Operational Excellence: Ensure the operational stability, resiliency, performance, and security of platform systems. Establish and monitor key metrics to drive continuous improvement in system reliability and performance. Be a champion for our beliefs in automation and Infrastructure as Code.
  • Vendor Management: Evaluate, select, and manage third-party vendors and technology partners as needed to support platform engineering initiatives.

Successful candidates will possess the following:

  • Ten (10) or more years of experience in software engineering, ideally with a recent focus on platform development and architecture.
  • Three (3) or more years of experience in a leadership or management role, leading teams of engineers.
  • Strong understanding of cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and distributed systems architecture.
  • Proficiency in modern software development practices and tools (e.g., Agile, DevOps, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code).
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively explain technical systems and technical strategy to the wider engineering department.
  • Experience in the development of highly available, fault-tolerant systems.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a keen attention to detail.

Salary Range:

The anticipated annual base salary range for this full-time position is $230,000 to $260,000. Offer amounts are determined by factors such as experience, skills, geography, and other job-related factors.
