Job Description Summary
Field Service Representative for the GE Marine LM2500 gas turbine engine, supporting the US and global fleets. This role is based in Pascagoula, MS (onsite at the Huntington Ingalls Shipyard and CANNOT be worked remotely). In this role you will provide technical assistance for the preventative and/or corrective maintenance of marine gas turbine engines during ship construction.

Roles and Responsibilities

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provide general technical direction and assistance to the customers such as HII, Austal USA, BIW and FMM in the operation, maintenance, repair, logistic support, and installation of GE products, including the LM500, LM2500, LM2500+ and LM2500+G4 gas turbine engine, on marine ships
  • Provide on-site interpretation of data and technical instruction at shipyards globally
  • Provide Project and Field Service management with complete and prompt information regarding status of programs, customer problems, failures, trends and climate 
  • Provide technical assistance through on-site guidance and training in proper operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of assigned programs and auxiliary support equipment, including the use and proper interpretation of data and technical instructions 
  • Provide communication to Product Support and Field Service regarding all program activities and problems through regular, timely reports, with reports.
  • Assist customer in scheduling maintenance and workload 
  • Assure that equipment and parts meet established schedules 
  • Review reported malfunctions and identify / analyze any undesirable trends 
  • Make recommendations on findings 
  • Review effectiveness of maintenance actions in order to identify training needs 
  • Anticipate requirements beyond those that immediately affect the program and assist in implementing actions to satisfy those requirements 
  • Ability to relocate to Pascagoula, Mississippi, USA
  • Up to 40% travel globally, and local travel expected. ?

  • Includes direct people management responsibility including staffing and performance development. Utilizes in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline and analytical thinking and technical experience to execute policy/strategy. This isn’t a PL role so I think we need to delete this?
  • Has knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; is aware of the competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market
  • Uses some judgment and has some ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters to address more complicated manufacturing processes with technical variety and/or interdependent production cycles. Uses technical experience and analytical thinking. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own teams to arrive at decisions.
  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with low risks and resource requirements. Explains information; developing skills to bring team members to consensus around topics within field. Conveys performance expectations and may handle sensitive issues.

Required Qualifications

    • High school diploma / GED with at least 2 years of experience with aero-derivative gas turbines
    • Up to 40% travel required
    • Willing and able to travel internationally
