Position Overview:

Provides overall leadership and accountability for planning, organizing, and carrying out projects of highly developed scientific scope and complexity related to data collection, data management, analysis, program evaluation, and research activities. Recruits and mentors new Scientists as appropriate to their professional level, ensures adherence to good research practices by all members of the department, manages departmental resources appropriately, builds research relationships and collaborations within Research Institute (RI), clinicians, and wider community. Leverages patient population, data, technology, and collaborative opportunities with other appropriate institutions/agencies to undertake original research for peer-reviewed publication, obtain sufficient project-related funding to support research activities, collaborate with other researchers and clinicians, and teach and provide service to own field, Research Institute (RI), and community. Adheres to all local/state/federal regulations, codes, policies and procedures to ensure privacy and safety while delivering optimal patient care. May also be responsible for performing teaching duties.

This role works closely as part of the Institute for Advancing Health Equity team to support and implement a system-wide strategy for identifying, prioritizing and mitigating equity gaps within maternal health/birth equity program. This role helps to leads a group of internal and external stakeholders to implement the IAHE framework for systematically identifying and mitigating health and healthcare inequities within the specified programmatic area and provides primary directional guidance of the program through deeper subject matter expertise and strategic guidance.

Job Description:

EDUCATION:

  • Doctorate: Ph.D or M.D. in Public Health, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field


TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:

  • 3 years of recent relevant experience.


SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability to obtain NIH or other competitive research funding.
  • Competent in the statistical techniques, study designs and general research methods commonly used in epidemiological and health services research.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of data and instructions, furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Possess written and verbal communications skills to communicate with fellow team members, supervisors, patients, and other hospital personnel.
  • Well-developed time management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize assignments and work within standardized policies and procedures to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.
  • General knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Prioritize and delegate assignments based on experience, procedures, policies, and best practices to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.
  • Work independently, as well as be part of the team, including accomplishing multiple tasks in an environment with interruptions.
  • Identify and analyze data to solve problems that arise with little or no precedent.
  • Ensure the privacy of each patient’s protected health information (PHI).
  • Build collaborative relationships with peers and other staff members to achieve departmental and corporate objectives.

Pay Range is $84.23 to $134.77 / hour

The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location.
