Finance Manager – Cost of Sales (COS)

Location Commutable distance to Winchester / London. Arqiva offer a hybrid working model whereby site visits tend to be more meeting dependent

Finance Business partnering our Operational and Technology teams to ensure we optimise our cost base. Special emphasis on creating insight to identify and drive cost improvement opportunities - enabling the successful implementation of Arqiva's growth strategy

The role

  • Financial Ownership of Cost of Sales (c£300m), included Shared Costs and Third Party – providing detailed and actionable insight by product and cross-Arqiva cost categories with a view to optimising our costs
  • Driving to understand our cost drivers in detail to drive down our unit costs on our Growth products in order to maximise profitability / competitiveness
  • Challenge the status quo by driving improvements across all areas of the business, championing change and installing a continuous improvement mentality in terms of insight and cost optimisation
  • Own the monthly results and sign off with the management accounts team; producing clear analysis on issues, opportunities and FY out turns, etc. for key stakeholders, including Commercial Finance teams
  • Create, Monitor and Challenge performance KPIs against planned targets / forecast. Ensuring Exco and the business understand the dependency of KPIs and are held to account.
  • Own the Long Term Plan, budget and forecast for COS - challenging the directors to maximise the appropriate cash outcomes
  • Robustly challenging our business partners to secure the right investment decisions relating to major multi-year investment decisions as part of Cost Investment reviews. Ensuring all information is clearly presented and the financials challenged appropriately
  • Pro-active contribution to team well-being and improvement and demonstrating a willingness to share knowledge and best practice
  • Deputising for HOF – Operations & COS

The person

  • Qualified accountant or similar finance degree
  • Comprehensive experience of analysing and explaining data to non-finance colleagues
  • Extensive knowledge and use of Microsoft Excel and other office product, business analytical tools and report writing capabilities
  • Experience of managing a finance team and matrix environment
  • Experience of working as business partner into Exec Director level
